"Both synthesizers do a good job at producing a warm and colorful bass. To me, it seems that the JP8 excels in clarity but the Juno 60 excels in color, that is with the chorus effect engaged."

"The battle of The Strings has arrived. A long awaited battle between two of my favorite synthesizers, the Roland Jupiter 8 and Juno 60. At around 3 min in I add delay and then pull it back out around the 5 min mark. It comes back again later on in the demo. Honestly, I really didn't need to add any effect at all but i wanted to demonstrate these strings with and without. Which synthesizer wins this battle? Will it be the warmth of the Jupiter 8 or the colored chorus of the amazing Juno 60? Both synthesizers have things that the other cannot do, but both synthesizers are amazing."

"In this video, I attempted to match one of my custom patches, Synthbrass to the Jupiter 8 using the Juno 60. I did not add any effect during the first part of the video so that you could hear the raw sound of both. When adding the Juno chorus effect, I detuned the Jupiter 8 oscillators to match the Juno chorus. I do apologize for any noise in the video. The noise is associated with the Juno 60 chorus effect, common issue with Juno 60's but easy to work around with lower pre mixer input volume levels. The Jupiter 8 is an incredible sounding synthesizer but a Juno 60 deserves to be up there in the high ranks along with it. What are you thoughts? Do you own either of these great synths? NOW.. don't get on Ebay or Reverb and start running the Juno 60 prices through the roof thinking you now have a Jupiter 8!! But, in my opinion.. the Juno 60 is still one helluva a value and it sounds so much better than modern synthesizers. Yes it is limited, but for me it is all about the basic sound and these Roland filters sound incredible.. especially when you add the chorus effect."

The Jupiter of course has two independent VCOs, Sync, and Crossmod. The Juno-60 has one DCO and one Sub osc.

"Serial #181894. This Jupiter 8 is the more dependable 14bit model. It tunes up, plays and sounds like a dream! Please view my video below [above] which shows the inside and outside of this Jupiter 8 and has a music track I created from this synthesizer in the background. I have owned it about 3 years. It has Encore midi installed by Switched On electronics in Austin, Texas. I have used the midi in a very limited role so I do not know much about it as I am not much of a midi guy. Power supply was recapped by Switched On as part of a preventive maintenance. A new lithium battery has been installed. Everything works properly. Sliders work smoothly. Buttons respond as they should. Keys work as they should. I have made a ton of Youtube videos with this Jupiter 8 if you want to check those out just look up Synthartist69 Jupiter 8 [plenty posted here on MATRIXSYNTH]. Cosmetically it is in great shape other than wear and touch up on the ROLAND logo on the back. I still play this synthesizer at least two to three times a week in my SMOKE FREE home. Why am I selling? I am raising cash to build a new home. I have been selling on Ebay since 2001 and have 100% feedback there as well if you would like to check that out. This Jupiter 8 is the real deal, not some synth being sold by someone who doesn't even know how to play it or how it works. It is my favorite analog ever created by far and it hurts to sell it."

"In this video I have the Linn Drum synced to the JP8. The JP8 is split with the bass arp on the lower end and strings on high end. I am playing a sync lead patch that I created for this song on the Jupiter 6. For anyone who would like to know, Gregg Hawkes, the keyboardist for The Cars, originally used a Prophet 5 for this sync lead sound. After the Jupiter 8 came out in the early 80's, he started using it for this sound, which has a very similar sync lead patch, such as the one I created here. In this video, it was easier for me to play it using the JP6 for my lead sound, because the sync lead on the JP8 is tuned one octave higher. On the JP8, this riff has to be played one octave lower but in this video my bass arp is occupying some of the notes I need in the lower register. There is no way to tune it lower as it is maxed out to the lowest possible octave."
