Melodies on a Buchla 200e - Part 01 Djangosfire

"Wanted to show an example of melodic possibilities on a Buchla 200e. This a focus on the concept of pitched transpositions (not the tone of the patch this time).

Modules used:

Buchla 251e, 223e, 281e, 292e, 206e
Studio H: 258e & Control and Signal Router

A few notes on the pitch aspects of the patch:

- 258e is tracking 1.2v/oct
- 251e is tuned to play octaves
- the 223e is tuned to play a Major scale
- the Studio H Control and Signal Router is mixing and buffering the all of the CV into the 258e

Repeatable, pitch tracking on a Buchla 200e is possible, and sounds amazing! Once you set up a patch like this.. anything is possible.

"Looking at a question from Buchla Break No. 5: can the OR's settings be modulated? No. But the Attack and Decay settings A and B can be modulated :-) In this case I'm using the Djangosfire 121D joystick module to change the Attack speed on A and B."

I’ve been so busy past few months building DIY Buchla style modules... and I have NOT had any time to finish putting this Serge System together (its been sitting for way too long) until this afternoon. For me, the “test” of a system is when you sit down with NO patch cords (a blank slate) and start building a foundation patch.. then let it lead you into space. buchla 100 clone fun

"the first exploration of a lovely set of Buchla 100 clone modules made by djangosfire: 158 Dual Sine-Saw Generator; 180 Dual Attack Generator; 110 Dual VC Gate. First a quick sweep through the oscillator then some wild S&H stuff to show the variety of attacks/decays of the 180 -- no effects just straight into a keyboard amp, and of course (unfortunately) the flipcam mic, ugh. I'll try and get a nice soundcloud track up soon, hopefully you'll get a glimpse of the possible sounds from this rough video. See djangosfire youtube channel here:

"Simple" Morphun Test 01

"Not an in-depth test . . . just a simple fun try-out.

- Morphun #1 is set to "Morph" (basically re-shapes an incoming transient)

- Morphun #2 is set to "Clock" (basically a sequencer mode)

I'm using the "Morph" in this patch, as kind of a "tape stretching" - "Note Bending" that cycles in time - via 281e from Pendulum Ratchet. The Sequence is being transposed via the Source Selector ModuleModule."

Buchla, Eardrill Morphun Test 02

"More experimenting with the amazing Eardrill Morphun ModuleModule.

- Morphun #1 set to "Clock" mode - output to the Pendulum Ratchet "Division A" CV control . . . allows for clock division shifting.

- Morphun #2 set to "Strobe" mode (much like a Sample and Hold). Input to "Morph" from 1x single 281e channel transient output - which is in turn being pulsed by the "Division A" output of the Pendulum Ratchet.

The actual sound is coming from a single 258V oscillator - w/ a second 258v providing nice FM.... the amount of FM is being controlled by a "Source Selector" that has 4x inputs of attenuation."

- 206e Six Channel Mixer & Preset Manager
- LEM218 Touch Activated Voltage Source (218e in a skiff)

Buchla 200e stereo audio output patched into the EMS AKS Synthi for processing (reverb and filtering etc). Audio sent to console and through Roland RE-301 Chorus Echo Tape delay, then into the computer DAW.
