With Starlight In Their Eyes - Djangosfire Serge Improv Dec 2020

djangosfire

"'With the starlight in their eyes, they glimmer and shine - Set to cruise through the heavens, the Milky Way and beyond - Rumble shakes the capsule, as time between the past and the far off lead to wonder - To the Earth they say goodbye... with starlight in their eyes'

'Starlight in Their Eyes' 12-29-2020 Adam Scramstad/Djangosfire

I’ve been so busy past few months building DIY Buchla style modules... and I have NOT had any time to finish putting this Serge System together (its been sitting for way too long) until this afternoon. For me, the “test” of a system is when you sit down with NO patch cords (a blank slate) and start building a foundation patch.. then let it lead you into space. If I look up at the clock only to realize a few hours have past... well, then it all A-OK! Cheers - Adam"

Compelled to Sequence

Published on Oct 29, 2019 Todd Barton

"Sometimes I'm just compelled to Sequence! The Easel is clocking the custom Serge 4x8 Sequencer built by http://lowgain-audio.com. The custom Soundplex Serge panel was built by http://seeholzerengineering.com and Easel clone by djangosfire.
Enjoy!"

Created a new Seeholzer Engineering for this one. Charles Seeholzer has been featured in previous posts, including this Olympia Modular post.

Melodies on a Buchla 200e - Part 01 Djangosfire

Published on Apr 26, 2019 djangosfire

"Wanted to show an example of melodic possibilities on a Buchla 200e. This a focus on the concept of pitched transpositions (not the tone of the patch this time).

Modules used:

Buchla 251e, 223e, 281e, 292e, 206e
Studio H: 258e & Control and Signal Router

A few notes on the pitch aspects of the patch:

- 258e is tracking 1.2v/oct
- 251e is tuned to play octaves
- the 223e is tuned to play a Major scale
- the Studio H Control and Signal Router is mixing and buffering the all of the CV into the 258e

Repeatable, pitch tracking on a Buchla 200e is possible, and sounds amazing! Once you set up a patch like this.. anything is possible.

More later - Thank you, Djangosfire"

Buchla Flute Feedback Patch clip

Published on Jan 22, 2018 djangosfire

"Late night weirdo patch on the Buchla - featuring the 218e + Grayscale DAO + 230r + 281e + 292e + 206e .... into reverb.

I might experiment and develop this patch, for now though... just a quick clip to help me recall these tones.

218e is massively fun and a deep expressive interface, and so fast to patch!

Thank you for checking out my noise :)
Cheers, - Djangosfire"

BUCHLA 285E FREQUENCY SHIFTER FEEDBACK & 296E - Examples 02

Published on Jan 13, 2018 djangosfire

"Today I’m further exploring a Todd Barton suggested 285e feedback patch found here: [posted here]

And am extending the idea to include a 296e!

Basic patch setup:

- 285e Down Output into 285e Signal In
- 285e Up Output into285e FM Input
- 285e Down Output patched into 296e ODD Input
- 285e Up Output patched into 296e EVEN Input
- 296e Spectrum Transfer set on to both ODD to Even, and Even to ODD
- 296e Display set to Envelopes
- 296e ODD audio output patched to 206e Channel 1 Left
- 296e ODD audio output patched to 206e Channel 6 Right
- I patched 296e Envelope Out CV from channel 15 back into the 285e Frequency CV jack

Audio from this video was straight out from the 206e main, through the console, into DAW (which I used some UAD EMT Reverb).

Now, go explore some sounds!!

Cheers,
- Djangosfire"

"Working on a new improvised Space Music track, for a double vinyl compilation of electronic music - more soon.

Buchla 200e + Roland RE-301 tape delay + Eventide reverb. Oh yes, and the VCO is a prototype 258e!

Wanted to share a short 'sneak peek' of the process.

You can hear the tape swirling around :)

Euro Buchla 100 Modules - Testing! 01

Published on Jul 11, 2017 djangosfire

"Having a blast beta-testing these euro format Buchla 100 reproductions (for a friend, I did not build these) - Perfect for getting a feel of the patch style used in the early Buchla 100 systems. No filters used, just gates (non-vactrol for the early 110's) - great wide range of tones and timbres - can't wait to try more!!"
