Vintage Rheem Kee Bass Monophonic Bass Synthesizer and Stool

via this auction [note the stool is not part of the auction - see update below]

"This is a vintage Rheem Kee Bass bass synthesizer. This was made in the 60's, and is basically a 2 octave analogue organ that just plays bass notes. It is a monophonic unit with high note priority. Has several keys including mellow/bright, fuzz, sustain/percussion (sort of like a traditional pedal) and decay, as well as a bass boost. Unfortunately it doesn't have the power cord, so we have been unable to test it. It does come with its original cover."

And and excuse to check out Devo's Whip It!.

Update: Image below of a Rheem stool to sit on while you play your Rheem Key Bass! Note this is not part of the auction. This one was spotted and sent in via Pea Hicks of Optigan.com.

"I am a band director in Alberta, Canada and found this synthesizer in storage while cleaning out storage with a couple of students. The synthesizer is in excellent condition and has been sitting in storage for years untouched. There are no signs of use or wear on the synthesizer itself and it is in mint condition. The case has "PROPERTY OF MHS BAND" spray painted on the exterior and there are minimal scuff and tape marks on the exterior case."

Sony to Discontinue Floppy Disks

This one was sent in on April 26 via Zero. I didn't opt to post at the time as floppies are still manufactured by other companies, but as Zero said, this does mark the beginning of an end. The previous post on the Emulator II disks below, reminded me of this.
