Rehearsing JOHN CAGE - VARIATIONS VI

Rehearsing JOHN CAGE - VARIATIONS VI from Giorgio Sancristoforo on Vimeo.

For a Plurality of Sound Systems (Buchla200e, Radio, Tape Recorder, Max/MSP)
Score available at Edition Peters

The score is made of symbols printed on transparent plastic sheets,
the symbols set the number of available and possible sound systems
(a sound system is made of speakers, generators and components such as filters, modulators, amplifiers).
The symbols are dropped on a white sheet painted with a straight black line.
The axis of each symbol states whether the component or generator must change
or stand still (% of amount of change). Some changes are done manually, some other are made by control voltage. Amplification and surround pan are controlled (following the score) by max/MSP.
At a certain point the radio went outside the FM band, making just clicks and pops... :)

Recorded in binaural simulation, use headphones.

"Robert Moog plays with one of the first Reactable prototypes at the 2004 NIME conference, along with Sergi Jorda and Martin Kaltenbrunner of Reactable Systems

We were very fortunate to meet and have Robert Moog's feedback at the early stages of our instrument's development."

Spaceships for Bob: A Minimoog Voyage

YouTube Published on May 23, 2012 by SuiSibi

"Dedicated to Bob Moog, this song features over 90 stereo tracks of Minimoog Voyager. The images are of the actual instrument you are hearing. Around the 5:00 mark, there are some pics of the store from which the Moog was purchased (Novamusik).

The Voyager gets quite a workout in this piece, and I do my best to make it sound big and nasty. As it opens, the Moog mothership descends, tentacles of patch-cable swirling, and abducts the listener to the far reaches of the galaxy at well beyond light speed. As for what happens after that? Use your imagination!"

Moog Doodle Hack from Max6 for Bob Moog's birthday !

YouTube Published on May 23, 2012 by julienbayle

"(Stay tune about the latest software I'm releasing on app store these days: http://youtu.be/r_8rpgIlzUU)

Google Made us a great present today for the Bob Moog's birthday: The Moog Doodle.
Because I like to hack, to play, because I like random noises & strange shuffle, I made this little hack simulating mouse cursor movement & click from Max/MSP (= Max6 today..)

I also used Ableton Live to play some 808 beats using some follow actions & tricky clip launching options we, certified trainers, only know :D Kidding. You can do that easily.

And here is that electronic glitchy & software hack strange result: The Acid Bob's Birthday !

MAke more like to totally control the synth from Ableton Live or any MIDI player would be easy.
As soon as you have the "box" that convert a MIDI note pitch into a position on the screen, you can do that.
I'm SORRY I don't have time for that right now.. But we can discuss about that on http://designthemedia.com/index my forums)

Letter to Jon Hassell
Electronic Music - The Early Years

I had a very interesting experience about one week ago. A gentleman, Mr. Robert Moog, who claims to know of you, visited Washington and demonstrated a compact electronic studio. He claims to be the only man in the country building and designing equipment solely for the creation of electronic music. He was tremendously impressed with your proposals. [For - among other things - applying the principles of electronic music manipulation to the video domain.] He stated that he would be able to provide much of the equipment called for in those proposals at the same quality or better at considerably less cost.

He also demonstrated equipment (in a crude state of development) which could provide great flexibility with extremely simple manipulation involved, almost to the point of being able to improvise an electronic composition - to be recorded or not. He is going to send me descriptive material and quotations, copies of which I will either forward to you or hold for your interest and considerations.

For some perspective on the date see the Moog Legacy Timeline. This would have been right after AES when Bob Moog showed his system for the first time.

"Chance for a thematic day, I just work on drumkits based on moog synth samples. Here I used 2, one by ear, especially managing here timeFrog's arpegiator features on many slots (up to 8, I can't manage more slots for now...) and sequencer / automate together or switched.Horizontal faders assigned on pano on each drumkit. Sometime stranges behaviour since my monitoring plug is only mono, and the recording in stereo..."
