"You're looking at a special item right here. This is an original 1979 Moog Liberation synthesizer. This thing sounds amazing. HUGE Moog monosynth bass and leads, and wild SFX potential.

This synth was known as Moog's keytar synth. However, this one no longer has the keytar attachment. Instead, this synth was built into a wooden box with the synth on top, the keytar's expression control panel in front of the synth, and an amp built into the box. This box rolls with wheels installed on the bottom, and it has a latching top that can be hooked on, making it the ideal old school Moog for the traveling musician. (I will add a photo of this soon. The top completely covers everything.) There are amp controls on the front panel. This is much more of a traditional keyboard player's instrument.

This synth has a few issues, as to be expected of anything of this age. I was told when I bought it that oscillator 2 doesn't work properly. It seems to make sound appropriately when it is solo'd, and as you know about this synth if you're reading this, its interesting feature was that the two oscillators mixed to make a unique waveshape. I don't know if they mix properly or not, I am not an expert about these instruments. Some of the sliders stick in their top and bottom positions and can be hard to move. The envelope generation seems to be a bit slow. I have had trouble generating envelopes with fast attack, that could either be related to the switches, some settings I have wrong, or something else. The LFO is also a bit wonky..."

"Techno Empire recently had the privilege of cracking open Jeff's storage locker full of gear that has been pretty much unopened for the last 30+ years. Doobie Brothers and Steely Dan Road cases full of gear!

From joness.com:

At the end of the 1970s, Roland Corporation introduced the world to the GR-300 analog guitar synthesizer. While there have been numerous advancements in music technology since then, the GR-300 remains the pinnacle of analog guitar synthesis. Although the sound palette of the GR-300 is very limited, the GR-300 has the fastest, most accurate tracking ever developed. Unlike much of guitar-to-MIDI pitch recognition technology, the GR-300 guitar synthesizer does not require the player to adapt technique to get astonishing results."

"Equinoxe III" - on Elka organs

Published on Jan 5, 2014 organfairy·404 videos

"The Preludio 22L shares some of it's technoloy with the more famous X-705. And since Jean Michel Jarre used the X-705 for some time in the late 1970's I thought it could be fun to play one of his compositions while I had this old thing fired up. The only part of Equinoxe III that I couldn't play on the Preludio was the string parts because it doesn't have a phase modulator. For the string parts I therefore used the EP-8 instead."

Ultra rare HILLWOOD SY-1800 analog synthesizer 1977- by Darth NoiseLab

Published on Jan 5, 2014 NoiselabCH·5 videos

"No effects or anything, just pure analog sound (however as usual recorded with an IPhone only) ! 1ST VID EVER ABOUT THE HILLWOOD SY-1800 on YOUTUBE !

Hillwood SY-1800 built from 1977-79, is a curious preset Synthesizer made in Japan similar to the Roland SH-2000, ARP soloist and ELKA Soloist. Manufacturer Hillwood had a full range offer typical at the time:

- Combo Organs and keyboards
- Synthesizer like the SY-1800 and more known Hillwood Comet
- Electric pianos
- Guitar amp
- two drum machines
- rotary speaker simulator
- and even a spinett-organ
(found in a catalog fromm 1977)

I never had or know a synthesizer with practically no information on the net like the SY-1800. Presets are mostly worthless like all preset Synths of the time. However these synthesizer have some modulations to explore and the SY-1800 has some PWM, CHORUS, possibly BP-Filter sounds worth to take a closer look. Even with a weak filter I think the HILLWOOD SY-1800 is an inspiring little toy.

Any information about HILLWOOD is apreciated...

Be the analog synthforce with you...
