Ultra Rare 80's Analog KLONE DUAL PERCUSSION SYNTHESIZER KIT

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

"Ultra rare vintage analog KLONE DUAL PERCUSSION SYNTHESIZER KIT from the early 80's. It was produced in the UK by Honkey-Tonk Music. Only one on the market at the moment - highly collectible item! Kit comes with Main Unit, two KLONE drum pads, Jacques Capelle (made in France) stand, Jacques Capelle hard case and original user manual. Excellent working condition.

The control unit contains two separate monophonic synthesizers which are triggered from the pads. They can also be triggered from external sources such as a Rhythm Unit, Synthesizer with trigger output, DAW or even from a microphone.
When the pad is triggered the corresponding light emitting Diode (LED) lights up on the module. Unlike a keyboard synthesizer, the Klone is specially tailored and designed for percussive sound generation. Each synthesizer has a voltage controlled oscillator (VCO) which produces a pitched sound or tone, also a voltage controlled filter (VCF) which creates a variety of noise sounds. These can be used individually or mixed together to obtain the desired sound.
In addition, and for extra versatility, channel two of the Klone has a comprehensive modulation section which allows for a whole range of additional sounds and effects.

You can listen to the sounds here.

You are welcome to come and play before buying - you won't be disappointed! Along with the Pearl Syncussion SY-1, the Klone is one of the best around for its versatility and sound generating capabilities."

Inside a MULTI KLONE DRUM BRAIN

via this auction

"THE MULTI KLONE DRUM BRAIN FEATURES 5 CHANNELS. EACH CHANNEL INCLUDES TRIGGER IN/AUDIO OUT, DECAY, SWEEP, TUNE,LEVEL,NOISE, BEND, Q/TONE, ATTACK, AND REPEAT, (REPEAT FUNCTIONS SIMILAR TO AN ECHO BUT WILL ONLY ECHO 1 TIME. THE DISTANCE BETWEEN TRIGGERING THE ORIGINAL NOTE TO THE REPEAT NOTE IS ADJUSTABLE TO APROX. 1/2 OF A SECOND), AND A MANUAL FINGER PLASTIC TRIGGER BUTTON WHICH IS SIMILAR IN CONCEPT TO A DRUM PAD. THE MAIN OUTPUT FEATURES A SECOND NOISE GENERATOR FOR THAT EXTRA "CRUNCH" AND A MASTER LEVEL. EACH DRUM SYNTH CHANNEL IS EXACTLY AS THE NEXT WHICH ALLOWS THE USER TO CREATE TOMS, SNARE, KICK, BOOM, AND HAT ON ANY CHANNEL. THE SOUNDS ON THE UNIT ARE FANTASTICALLY AWESOME RANGING FROM DEEEEEEEEEEP BASS, CRUNCHY SNARES, PINGING HATS, BLIPS, BLURPS, AND CHURPS. THINK OF MINISTRY, PORTISHEAD, OR NIN SOUNDS AND YOU HAVE THE INDUSTRIAL SOUNDS OF THE MULTI KLONE."

Klone multi - very rare drum synth

via this auction

Not the best shots, but definitely not common. Only one other post here.

"Honky Tonk Multi Klone Analog drum brain with trigger inputs. 5 channels, each with noise, filter sweep, tuning etc. Rare and curious drum synthesiser. Each channel has it's own input and output for connecting to drum pads and a mixing desk, there is also a headphone / main output socket to monitor the complete mix. Each channel has it's own sensitive on board trigger so the Klone multi can be used as a stand alone unit (Not just connected to drum pads). There is a master noise quality control altering the bit rate of the entire output, for added crunch."

The Honky Tonk Music Klone Dual Percussion Synthesizer

This one came up on AH with no info. If you know more about it, please share. Title link takes you to more shots [2/1/10: looks like the link is down].

Update 2/1/10: Some additional info via Alex: "The Klone Dual Percussion Synthesiser features -- as the name suggests -- two individual synthesis channels. Each channel comprises a VCO and noise generator, a multimode filter (HP, LP, BP, BS) which can self oscillate, and a simple D envelope (with variable polarity) for filter and pitch modulation. The envelope's decay time (which can be considered as release time) also affects the VCA. Channel 2 features also an LFO and the ability for FM -- which can produce some interesing results. Klone is either triggert by pads (e.g. Simmons Hugger Slave) or by a drum machine with separate (trigger) outputs.

I bought mine for 230€ (or was it DM?!) some years ago and it is in a rather poor optical condition, despite of that it's still fully operational." Click the KLONE link below for more.
