VEMIA Auction Nov 4

Via Peter Forrest. Note the VEMIA auction usually has some pretty interesting stuff. Last year some gear from Brian Eno including his DX7 were included. Definitely worth taking a peak. Here are some previous posts mentioning VEMIA.

"Next VEMIA auction has some good stuff coming, including 22 lots (actually probably nearer 40 or 50 lots) starting at 22 uk pounds with no reserve.

Some items are already up online at www.spheremusic.com

They include an ARP 2600 (but that's already had some keen bidding); an Obie 4-voice (at 110 pounds at the moment); some Metasonix items - two already listed; and, to come, a Moog Taurus, a MIDI'd Odyssey module, and quite a few other interesting pieces.

No hidden reserve on anything in the auction - one bid gets it if no-one bids higher. 10% buyer's premium, but you get personal service and protection for that, plus the ability to pay in a variety of ways for free. Auction ends Saturday Nov 11.

Thanks! Peter Forrest"

  1. Holy christ it seems to get worse each year.

I don't care if they are selling the Holy Grail with the Ark of the Covenant thrown it for free, I'm staying away.

  2. Ironically, the only browser that I have that works well on VEMIA is Safari - can't say -that- often. Surely Mr. F gets tired of all the UI complaints.

  5. Javascript error on the first page of the Sphere site in Firefox, like last year.

Finding an auction requires clicking 'buying and selling' on the nav bar, then clicking 'Auctions' AND THEN clicking an 'auction rooms' link. Just like last year.

Peter, on the off chance that you're reading this: Find someone to help you redesign the site. Your current design is absolutely user hostile.

  6. wtf do I have to do to get 'buy rights' in my profile? I want to bid on an item.

I'm willing to wade through the poor site design to try to bid, but this is just crazy...

  8. Sorry to all who are having problems with the site.
If it doesn't work for you or is painful to use, I can understand your staying away.
I will pass the comments on to the site designer, and hope that something will happen both in the short and long term to deal with them. A far simpler more user-friendly site was meant to be in place for this auction, but it wasn't ready enough to risk.
Since this website stuff is profoundly not on-topic for matrixsynth, I'd like to apologise to matrix, and ask people to email me directly at pforrest@vemia.co.uk with comments, criticisms or pleas for help.

  9. I'm sure your site has lost bidders (i.e. commissions) because of the numerous problems. If that isn't enough of a reason to fix it, then I don't know.

To reduce spam, comments for posts older than one week are not displayed until approved, usually same day. Do not insult people. For items for sale, do not ask if it is still available. Check the auction link and search for the item. Auctions are from various sellers and expire over time. Posts remain for the pics and historical purposes. This site is meant to be a daily snapshot of some of what was out there in the world of synths.
