Click here for more shots pulled via this auction. Pictured is gorgeous Oak. As some of you have probably guessed, these are from Synthwood. The buy it now on these are only $19.50. Not bad if you are looking to spruce up your synths. So far I believe Synthwood only offers wood panels for synths that had wood panels to begin with. There are quite a few synths out there that would look very nice with a set of these. The OB12 immediatley comes to mind - the grey plastic-wood sides that come with it are hollow on the underside - I swear they'll cut a finger off if you aren't careful.
I have the Synthwood chap checking on Lignum Vitae wood for the green voyager :)
ReplyDeleteGood call Doc. :o)
ReplyDeleteBy the way, in the case of my Pro One, Synthwood provided wooden ends (black walnut, in my case) that *weren't* available, at least on my unit. Some Pro Ones didn't come with the ends, and definitely have an unfinished look about them. The $20 investment probably raised its value by a C note... not that I want to sell it any time soon. It a great little tweaker.
I'm keeping the oak for myself because they just turned out to be really beautiful. I know we still have plenty of oak from the same tree, so hopefully we'll get a few orders to make some.
ReplyDeleteRed Cedar is also another interesting wood to work with and gives beautiful results. However, we do offer fairly original pieces for those who just want to keep things looking stock.
The Lignum Vitae is a bit of a challenge to get, and might be a little expensive. One thing we've thought about doing is allowing folks to send us their specialty woods. This allows them to pick out exactly what they want and then describe to us how they want it to be applied to the instrument.
If you saw those Cherry Prophet 600 sides matrix posted a week or so ago I'm happy to tell you that we now have a complete Prophet 5 using cherry wood from that same exact tree.
