Apparently, there's a dedicated "sounds like shit" button on the metasonix.
ReplyDeleteI was thinking the same thing - I don't find that distortion musical or pleasant or lofi or anything - just crappy
ReplyDeletePerhaps it is your monitoring setup?
ReplyDeleteI'm sure some Auralex(tm) foam and a few Real Traps(tm) will bring out the soundstage of the TM-X for you to enjoy.
dude, that's a dedicated "sounds f*#king awesome" button!
ReplyDeleteIn all honesty, you can make something sound really bad by going to extremes with the metasonix boxes (the TX series in particular) but with moderation, you can really give a serious edge to the sound. In all these videos, the initial (more moderate) settings the guy has in the beginning, when he first clicks it on, sound absolutely wicked IMO.
You anonymous "sounds like shit" can piss off. I think it sounds extremely powerful and raw. Love it.
ReplyDeletei'll give you something powerful....it's right between my legs!
ReplyDeletethat sounds like the first few diy distortion stompboxes I built. crappy. it's just crappy distortion. there's no tone to it, and you can't call that 'edge' is just straight up distortion - i could probably crank the trims and channel fader on my mackie mixer and get about the same sound. In all honesty it sound like he's got it turned up way too much in those clips - just distorting the whole damn waveform...
