The Nord Wave

Title link takes you to more info and shots from the Musikmesse on Gearjunkies. The smiley face you can see in this previous post apparently is any sample you load into the synth as an oscillator source. Pretty cool...

  1. The interface seems like a step backwards from the NL3...I'm kind of disappointed.

  2. A sampling Nord? Nice! Now that's a step in the right direction right there...

  3. I'm in alignment with mr. array. I was expecting big things interface wise from the guys that radically raised the bar with every new nord lead.

    I have a NL2. It does a lot with it's oscillators already. I won't be upgrading. Sigh.

  4. Can't they think up an original name?

  5. I'm really surprised they nuked the endless rotary encoders for the original NL2-style knobs. That's the best part of my NL3 is those knobs!

  7. need to hear it.

from the sounds of it, using wave files as osc's is like what keytosound is doing with their NexSyn synth.

i agree their UI seems to have stepped back a bit. They didn't innovate in the UI department. Perhaps a controller like this would be a cool addition:

  8. Screw all you guys, I'm having GEARGASM.

  9. I like it too.

I loved my Lead 2X dearly but the lack of aftertouch made it completely useless as a controller and the inability to name patches made them very hard to find.
I liked the basic overall sound and the Pitch Stick a lot...this looks similar but with a better interface and more features.

BTW - did anyone notice the waveform selector has a position for Wave AND one for Sample? Looks promising.

  10. as far as the lack of super-knobs (ala NL3) they DID say this is a prototype... but alos, I've heard there is trouble finding a good source for those pots these days. The LEDs surrounding the pot, and the pot itself are one component. Just what I heard thru the grapevine.
But yeah, I LOVE the NL3 pots. best interface EVAR! I'll def have to give this guy a try when it hits the shelves round here.

  11. i'm excited about getting one. im also happy with the interface...it will keep the price down. the nl3 style interface would probs make it more expensive...likely more than i would be willing to pay. i hope it's ready soon.
