+ those risset bells I'm fond of in the background at a very very low volume.
The A6 is going at a low BPM through an arpeggiator, which is what
makes the tone sequence. A6 digital effects are off but there is a
slight touch of the A6 transistor distortion.
I have cables sticking down two keys on the A6.
I like how sometimes it's crystal, sometimes its grungy low. Kinda
neat. I thought you might enjoy giving it a listen, for I know you
like drones a bit."
Hi Auntie Anne!
Dr Future is yet to answer for his comments about drugging cats.
ReplyDeleteI think it's disappointing that you're supporting that kind of behaviour matrix.
"Radio Modular"?? Why is it that this "Radio Modular" doesn't seem to actually use any modular synthesizers?
ReplyDeleteThere's always at least one module!
ReplyDeleteIn this case, you'll see it's the Triple Res Filter with an LFO modulating (analog modular). A bit minimal it's true, but I also view the Kyma as a digital modular (which it is). Also, the risset bells are being generated from Plogue Bidule, which is also modular.
So Modular to me is a about freedom of connectivity and routing. Less about 'form factor', and certainly not just 'analog modular with a specific form factor'.
It's more about the modular mindset.
anon1: You are confused. I don't drug cats. You are referring to the fact I learned that someone I knew drugged a cat. I was chastised by some anon for not reporting it to the RSPCA.
ReplyDeleteIn truth, I am neutral on animal cruelty and animal testing. However, I fully support human cruelty and human testing. It's the only way we will be able to create the super-soldiers we desperately need to fight the Mooninites (oh, you think they're not real, but you just wait!).

What, no Zer0scillator?
ReplyDeleteZero Zeroscillator.
ReplyDeleteI have it hooked up to a machine designed to pick my lotto numbers.
We'll see how it goes.
Dr F I don't think I am confused, it seems you are mistaken - I didn't say that you drug cats, I am however suggesting that you tacitly support it by not taking measures to ensure the wellbeing of the abused animal and the punishment of those who abused it.
ReplyDeleteI am that anon. I find it ironic that you complain about one person "chastising" you while you find it a joking matter to brain damage a cat. More important than reporting it to the RSPCA would be to take it to the vet. This isn't about busting people, it's about making sure that the cat experiences the optimal quality of life, as it deserves. The reason that it should be reported is that the animal should be tested to ascertain what effect on the cat's quality of life the damage has had. It might be that it's just a bit nuts and likes having a lot of fun. Who knows...It may well be that the cat is in a constant state of trauma and the only humane option is to euthanase, meaning that your inaction is a direct contribution to the endless torture of an innocent animal. Either way, it's not a joking matter.
Although I suspect that dealing with this in a manner which would benefit the animal, while not causing major human dramas, would be very difficult... that does not negate responsibility. Nobody said doing the right thing is easy.
Particularly in a position such as yours where you are visible to the public, you should realise that you set an example for others (the price of fame ;) ), and I don't think that it's a very positive example right now.
If you choose to be neutral on the subject and advocate the allowance of these abuses, that is your right, but likewise, others have the right to express their malcontent.

Anon the cat lover:
ReplyDeleteI will go ask a vet and see what they think, and send those recommendations to my friend (whose room-mate owns the cat). I don't get a sense, interacting with that cat, that it's in trauma -- that's just conjecture. It seems happy and playful. Perhaps we should deny cats 'catnip' too (it is also weakly psychoactive on cats, as you know).
Oh, and I'm not 'complaining' that I was chastised by you (just stating it happened). I'm all for open discussion and critique.
Still, I dislike cats sitting on Synths -- that's one position I'm likely to never deviate from.
Hehehe actually I can't stand cats! Especially on synths! XD
ReplyDeleteI'm a snake handler, and they kill native snakes down under.. Not to mention the birds and possums in my street, and pretty much anything else they can catch... And scratching up, urinating on and otherwise getting in the way of musical instruments. Regardless, I appreciate that you're going to do the right thing by the damn fuzzball assassin ;)
Moreover, I think it takes more guts and intellect than most people have to actually actively discuss it the way you have. Props Dok, thank you.
I'll shutup now so we can hear the show :)
1-Don't give drugs to cats
ReplyDelete2-Don't feed the trolls
" Psilocybin and psilocin are noteworthy in that their molecular structures are very similar to chemicals present in the human brain. Psilocin, for example, differs from the human neurotransmitter serotonin (designated 5-hydroxytryptamine) by only one hydroxy molecule. In this respect, the mushrooms are mirror images of the human brain. Psilocybin is the phosphoric acid ester of psilocin and is the only known indole derivative occurring in nature that contains this novel phosphoric acid radical. The phosphoric acid is considered "dead weight" and does not contribute to the compound's psychedelic effects. Its presence does, however, stabilize the compound. Conversely, psilocin, which lacks this phosphoric radical, is extremely unstable and sensitive to oxidation. It is 1.4 times as active as psilocybin, a ratio corresponding to the molecular weights of the compounds. Psilocin is the "Rolls-Royce" of psychedelics.
ReplyDeleteThe Harvard University Psilocybin Research Project, a two-year study conducted by Dr. Timothy Leary, Aldous Huxley, Richard Alpert et al., utilizing graduate students as test subjects, demonstrated the creativity-enhancing properties of psilocybin."
I wonder if that's the same Alpers from the famous physics paper. You know, the Alper, Bethe, Gamow one. Hans Bethe (pronounced 'Bay-tuh')didn't actually get to work on that one and as I recall gamow who was his friend royally pissed off alpers (et al)
I too hate cats on synths...it's not that i hate cats...i love mine, it's cat hair, in my opinion is just as bad as smoke to a synth. Anyone that has done synth repair or simple maintenance knows this
ReplyDeleteWho cares if he knew someone at one point that may have posted something to a blog. This is not a respectable board and all the anon bashing is sickening. Do you, Mr. Anon criticizing Mr. Anon, report EVERY post that you see to the blog? No you don't, hence you are a hypocrite. Shut up with all the bleeding heart righteous crap. I am sick of people that preach endlessly about postings but don't give a shit about their own.
ReplyDeleteMore real knowledge, less posers. Posting endless anon critical threads is just feeding all of these synth loving posers.
It was only in 2007 that I finally figured out how to use compressors.
ReplyDelete:|
I care if he knew someone at one point that may have given "drugs" to a cat. This is not a PETA board so all the cat talk is refreshing. Have you, Mr. Anon, played EVERY synth that you talk about to the blog? No you don't, hence you are a hypocrite. Shut up with all the mad beatz techno crap. I am sick of people that preach endlessly about how great a synth is but don't give a shit about human skill.
ReplyDeleteMore skill, less button pushers. Posting endless synth threads is just feeding all of these synth loving trolls.
Well, since this thread seems to be filled with nothing but anonymous trolls that are not even commenting on the actual post, I will be the first to say that the Dok Future's radio is good stuff. Keep it up Paul! The Kyma is one of those synths that I lust after, if only I could afford one. How about more posts about the topic and less arguing amongst anonymous trolls. :)
ReplyDeleteWhy does it say "Hi Auntie Anne" on the blog post?
ReplyDeleteWho is Auntie Anne?
I had an Aunt Ann, but my uncle divorced her, so I don't think she's my Aunt anymore officially.
Haha, I hadn't even noticed that. Is this some sort of cryptic code? I am about to run the phrase "aunt annie" through enigma and see what it turns up.
ReplyDeletewhoops, I meant "auntie anne", but I'll run them both just in case. ;)
ReplyDeleteI care if he knew someone at one point that may have given food to a starving child. This is not a Feed the Children board so all the food talk is refreshing. Have you, Mr. Anon, fed EVERY starving child that you see? No you don't, hence you are a hypocrite. Shut up with all the McDonalds Super Size crap. I am sick of people that preach endlessly about how great a burger is but don't give a shit about young children starving.
ReplyDeleteMore food, less starving children. Posting endless synth threads is just wasting all of these synth lovers time that could be spent feeding starving children.
my cat smokes salvia.
ReplyDeleteOK, you guys have inspired me. I think I'll give my kitty some shroomies this evening and watch him freak out. Sounds amusing enough! Thanks for the idea fellas! Hehe.
ReplyDeleteI feel bad for Dok because the thread about his radio modular turned into troll shit.
ReplyDeletedoes dr. future ever have any intelligent conversations with a precise point in mind or does he just ramble on about meaningless crap?
ReplyDeleteMostly just meaningless crap I'm afraid.
ReplyDeleteI tried to bring it back dok, but the trolls are relentless tonight. And on top of all that its mid april and its snowing here. HAARP at its finest. ;)
ReplyDeletehehe. s'okay k.c.
ReplyDeleteRadio bandwidth usage suggests many people are listening, so some people might be liking the stream tonight.
Sounds great, but i didn't have time to listen to the whole thing.
ReplyDeleteare you using a harm visser prototype or Sound for the violin body?
ReplyDeleteYup! The Harm Visser is exactly it.
ReplyDeleteHis work is quite excellent.
It really is interesting how different similar implementations of physical modelling algorithms sound like in Tassman, Reaktor, Korg Oasys PCI, and Kyma, huh?
I kind of also like the Reaktor samples he gives.
Giving the cat shrooms is cruel unless you also give the mouse some.
ReplyDeleteCats on synths is cruelty towards synthesizers!
ReplyDeleteEnjoying the stream now, thanks.
