Roland SH-2000 demo
YouTube via hamsterdunce, aka Dave of umop.com. Don't miss the banjo.
"Exploration of the archaic Roland SH-2000 at the Coffeehouse in Middletown, CT. Great studio for anyone in the area looking for a good place to lay down some quality tracks. Will upload a couple more vids I made there soon. Ciao."

dave probably had a stiff neck after shooting this vid. fwiw, *i* think this synth should get a 1 out of 5 for sound and features. however, as a door prop or weapon, i would rate it a 10 out of 6 :)
ReplyDeleteisnt it pronounced ROW-land?
thanks for the demo, but why didn't you use the after touch? you blindly flipped through the switches apparently not knowing what they did.
ReplyDeletebtw - random arpegiator = sample/hold
Wow, that 'random note setting' is like the first Karma :)
ReplyDeleteVSE sucks. Don't pay attention to their ratings. It's a heap of opinionated and arbitrary reviews. Way outdated suggested prices too.
ReplyDeleteThat's the perfect synth to lay down "Play that funky music white boy".
ReplyDeleteI've never heard anyone mispronounce "Roland" like that, before. Whoa!
ReplyDeleteAnyway, that was a fun little demo. Was the SH-2000 Roland's answer to the ARP Pro Solist?
Sounded cool when he hit the Tuba preset.
You've gotta wonder what was up with the Banjo preset. It can't be played by the random arpeg??
Dave rawks! I love his demos coz it's so down to earth! hurhur... fun, entertaining and informative! Thumbs up!
ReplyDeleteThanks sonicbrat!
ReplyDeleteI don't own this keyboard, so yes, I was basically just fiddling around with it ignorantly.

I love my sh2000. There's alot more tricks to be had. Maybe I'll make a vid some day. The aftertouch is the greatest thing in the world.
ReplyDeleteI have a old multivox mx-2000 Duo, which is pretty much a clone of the sh-2000. It also sounds much better and is a bit more flexible since they added some extra features Roland didn't think of - a 2nd OSC and a ring mod. Maybe someday I'll make a video of it but it's presets are kinda messed up and the aftertouch ain't working right, so it needs some fixing.
ReplyDeleteI though it was more like ROLL-and, even ROW-land, but RAH-land? East coast accent perhaps?
ReplyDeleteOh, but I liked the demo. Dave did a good job. I'd like to see more demos like that, with a bit of humor. Plus he can play.
ReplyDeleteAsk any Japanese person, it's Low-lun.
ReplyDeleteLOL JB!
