  5. thanks for the responses. I've been covertly working on the mod package for about 15 months. I figured some people would scoff at yet another 303-based mod but I love the sounds and wanted to take it to another level. I will updated the blog as I complete the unit. I'm finishing up the panel labels and build intructions - it be available to buy shortly thereafter.
As for the boring demos I can't totally disagree, I waa trying to show some of the mods and what they do without overwhelming people by using a bunch at the same time. It's also impossible to show everything you can do because there are so many possibilites.

  6. I personally loved the vids because they explained the mods and you could see and hear what you were doing at all times.

  7. Thanks for the comments matrix. Yes it took me a while to do those silly videos (not silly but I think you know what I mean). There's so many things I could have done I tried to make them somewhat simple. I noticed I didn't do many clips with just the basic 303 sound with the usual accent decay and vca decay mods etc - I guess those have been done before - but I should add a couple demo's just so people know you don't loose the basic acid sound. When all the control are set to there off position it is still a stock x0xb0x.
For those who don't know this is Limor's project, I just added the crazy mod to it. It is completely open source and has led to some great sharing of information leading to some cool hardware and software mods.
I actually started working on a tb-303 mod first, and I still plan to come out with that in the future. I ran into roadblocks with the tb-303 because it's battery powered and was meant to run off 9v/140mA or so. This really cripples you you when trying to add (active) mods. Even if you decide to use the DC in only (no batteries) you still have to contend with the small transformer in the dc to dc converter of the 303's power supply. I tried to source a higher power version of the transformer from china to replace the part but it was impossible to get. Hence the tb-303 mod will be extremely cool in its own right but will never be able to achieve what I was able to do with the x0xb0x regarding the second VCO, Overdrive circuit, etc..

  8. Can these mods be done on a complete x0xb0x, or do you need to do it while you're building one?
