Podcast: Sonic TALK 057 - Prophet 08, Logic 8 Leak

"First we get excited about the new synthesizer from Dave Smith Instruments - the Prophet 08, then Noneric gives us some second-hand but reliable information on the new Logic Pro imminent update, then we're off to the world of quad core laptops, OS upgrades ain't what they used to be, and as Jazz Mutant demo their first mulit-touch PC, how do we feel about using that as an interface?"

Title link takes you there. The Prophet '08 talk, actually doesn't come in for bit but the talk leading up to it is entertaining as usual. There is some mention of the Waldorf Blofeld and the recent Musotalk vids. Great podcast and... Matrixsynth got a plug. : ) Very cool. Thanks guys.

  4. Logic 8:

Ableton Live interface. 1 main Window. You have Transparency going from effects to arrange window or something like that.

I heard there is a new EXS with 30 gigs of high quality samples.

Should be a press release in a few days.

  5. Four years of intense development at Apple results in a version of Logic with a streamlined, single window interface.

Logic 8 will now be re-branded as Garage Band Pro.

  6. If Logic loses the power of screensets, multiple editor windows and multi-windowing over multiple-monitors, I will probably not upgrade (and I've been a hardcore Logic devotee all of its life).

But I think these "rumours" are bollox, personally, and I can see where they're coming from.

Tidy it up, streamline it by all means. But I do *not* need Logic to be Ableton Live - I have Live for that, and doing serious work in it is tedious at best (though I love Live dearly for it's strengths).

    Wait and see...
