"i just picked up an awesome rig and figured i'd share it with my fav synth blog.
the rig consists of a minimoog (#6536) (i'm thinking it is the discrete VCO board but I don't know a lot about mini's maybe you or your readers would know more) and an Oberheim SEM. It also came with a moogerfooger ring modulator which I haven't used yet. The mini has been modified, so the Loudness Control Input is now a CV out, and the S-trig input is no an S-trig output, both used for controlling the SEM. Also, the external input of the mini has been routed to automatically mix with VCO-2. there is no level control for the external signal input anymore, but the on-off switch for VCO2 controls both VCO2 and the external input. the external input section on the front panel has been converted to a sync section to sync VCO2 to VCO1. the external input mixer switch turns sync on and off, and the external input volume knob controls the amount of VCO-mod from the filter envelope (when sync is on) This mod rules, and this system is a 5 discrete beast that sounds amazing, no sound samples yet (i have no means to here at home) but i've posted a few hi-res pics i just took. the only problems with the rig is that the mini's keyboard could use a new set of bushings. i'll probably buy a set, i think this rig deserves it! the mods were supposedly done by kurt's amps and keys more than 15 years ago (but not 100% sure of the date of the mods)
dig the red paint job!"
Very nice. Click here for a couple more images. Thanks michael!
Was this in Boston?
ReplyDeleteWhat a way to de-value a Mini...
ReplyDeleteB.S. about devaluing anything... a paint job does nothing to touch the soul of the Mini. It could be painted to look like Eddie Van Halen's Kramer guitar and people would still pay top dollar for this thing.
ReplyDeleteWhat a stupid comment.
i wonder if that one (mm) came out of the music go round in ohio? there was a red one just like that in the m.g.r. for almost a year.
ReplyDeleteI thought it looked like the music go round one too, but I don't think it is. That one still seems to be for sale and it looks like it has scratches in different places.
ReplyDeleteyes boston. sorry heath and other boston heads.
