Holy shit, why was the Mono/Poly so cheap???
ReplyDeleteAwesome! I started getting those catalogs around that time, and I'd spend HOURS sitting in my room picking out all the stuff I was going to buy when I got rich. Of course, I'd need more information than what was available in the catalog, so I'd bust out my parents' typewriter and write letters requesting brochures from Roland, Yamaha, etc. Six to eight weeks later, that sweet, sweet envelope wold b waiting for m when I got home from school. Those were the days.
ReplyDeleteI have yet to get rich, but at least I've been able to afford some cool synths.
Ah, the MT-40, my first synth. Even brand new, it was clear that it was meant as a toy, so it's not surprising that it's the least expensive of the bunch (although it was fully polyphonic). What surprises me actually is that you could get what is now considered to be a respectable small pro-level mono-synth for only twice the price.
