PC3 Sneak Preview VA1
YouTube via Kurzweilmusicsystems. Sent my way via Gord.
"A little a taste of those VA1 oscillators... The first sound uses 32 detuned saw layers!"
For more background on the VA1 see this post. Originally the Kurzweil VA1 was going to be a flagship knob laden virtual analog monster. It is now a plug-in board for the new PC3.

A harken back to the old days of "meh".
ReplyDeleteSorry.
That really doesn't sound Analoguee (I added the extra silent Shopee e for effect (anyone remember Carlin's 'E-Tax' (was it Carlin? (time to count the closing brackets)))) at all.
ReplyDeleteI'm not disappointed with the sounds in this demo but it would've been nice to hear some more different sorts of them. Like pads and strings for instance.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I'm not gonna buy the thing now it's a board in the already overpriced PC3. A pity the standalone didn't make it.
I think Kurzweil needs to make a kick ass rack mount module with this VA engine. Something along the lines of an E-MU Command Station with sampling and lots of knobs and some pads. Put some crazy variation of their Mangler effects processor in it and give AKAI and Roland a good shake up.
ReplyDeletemy minimoog sounds better with only 2 oscillators!
ReplyDeleteFunny, I got modded down for saying the same exact think on youtube. Go figure.
ReplyDeleteThing, even.
