I wonder if it will come with any soundpacks out of the box.
I wonder if this is a ploy to get people using kore sounds. As you said, I also wonder what sounds it will come with out of the box. I also see knobs for tweaking there, so I wonder what the limitations of this player are (assuming it comes loaded with sounds... or someone uploads a bunch of sounds online somewhere)
ReplyDeleteI have kore1 and didn't really find a place for it in my workflow. I loved the hardware unit though... too bad it could only be used w/ kore rather than a stand-alone midi controller. Kore2 seems more refined, but I haven't had the time to evaluate it.
interesting.
KORE MY ASS....
ReplyDeleteI bought KORE around October of 06 for $450. At the time, I needed a second audio interface and MIDI controller for a little softsynth rig I was putting together at my girlfriends house before we got a place together. It seemed to fit the bill perfectly and I was really impressed with the concept.
Unfortunately It didn't work as advertised. With Absynth and half of the Reaktor Ensembles it didn't map control parameters to the knobs when they were loaded. This is also an issue I'm having with my Novation Remote 61 SL. Some plug-ins work and some do not despite the fact I'm using "Automap" endorsed and wrapped plug-ins. I'm sure if I took a saturday to mess around with them, I could probably get 'em to work. I just feel I shouldn't have to as the concept of these products are: ...."You don't have to screw around trying to set up some template or map parameters to knobs."
What REALLY pissed me off about KORE was a month after I bought it, I saw it selling new for $250. Now NI has the balls to offer me the version 2.0 upgrade for a hundred and some dollars.
I LOVE NI SYNTHS (and I generally don't like softsynths that much) But I feel really ripped off by KORE. I've thought about selling it, but I'd get dick for it second hand. It's pretty much a fancy glowing red paperweight on my DAW desk.
I know it does all this incredible sound layering and patch saving and finding crap, but I really don't work that way. I pretty much wanted it as an audio interface and controller. The audio interface isn't anything special, and the controller aspect really let me down.
