WNAMM08: Plugiator – An 8 Synth DSP Box

Be sure to see the write-up on Sonic State.
You can find all NAMM videos by Sonic State here.
Update: Some interesting notes and a question on the Plugiator after watching this video:
In a prior video he referred to the audio input for use with the vocodizer only, in this video he says you can use it with the synth engines as well, so this is good. However, in this video he mentions or implies that you need the PC editor for extensive editing as the hardware only has five knobs? This is actually a show-stopper for me. I'm interested in the Plugiator as you can basically get the same synth engines as the Creamware ASB boxes in one device, but if you can't edit all the paramaters w/o the use of the PC, it kind of kills it for me. Anyone out there confirm this either way?

  1. It's a repackaged Creamware ASB box. The intellectual property owned by Creamware was split two ways when the company folded. It appears that SonicCore is continuing development of Scope boards, Scope software and the original ASB boxes.

Use Audio seems to have repackaged the ASB technology, although they're also selling a huge package of Scope plugins at a very low price on their site. This is something that has upset a great many Scope users, because it seems that they're attempting to make money at Sonic Core's expense. Sonic Core has responded by refusing to support these cheap plugins in future releases of the Scope software platform (including an immanent Vista-compatible version).

  2. drama.

The box looks like it has potential... not really for me, but a nice pricepoint certainly.

  3. This box is exactly what the Creamware Noah should have been... and the price for the box and the plugins is just right... I will be getting one! :-)

  4. This guy is very competent. I really enjoyed this video. I'll pick one of these things up just to support them and waste a bit of my time doodling and noodling.

  5. For the editing is necessary the computer, or a midi controller with assignable knobs & very much patience. I own one.
