ReplyDeleteThe UI on this is identical to the Akai version (which is also under the Numark umbrella).
ReplyDeleteAnd I had an SR-16 when I was working at Guitar Center, which was at least 16 years ago...maybe 18.
When the HR-16 and HR-16B were around, someone made an enormous error and ordered way too many sound ROMs. They ended up designing the D4 drum module partly because they had so many of them, and continued to use them in the SR-16. I guess they finally ran out 20 years later. Another reason they didn't update is because the SR-16 was a strong seller for so long and they didn't want anyone else (like Roland) to notice. If they came out with another version, people might suspect that Alesis were making money on the SR-16, which they were.
ReplyDeleteI believe the SR-16 came out in 1991 and still holds the record for being the best-selling drum machine of all time.
