"This auction is for a super-rare, one of a kind, ARP Odyssey Lumina by CMS. This Odyssey is from the personal collection of Phil Cirocco at CMS. It is the one and only prototype for an upcoming illuminated slider retrofit kit for the ARP Odyssey and Avatar. Due to an ongoing relocation here at CMS, this mod is not available at this time and won't be available until the end of 08. This unit has been restored to brand new condition by CMS and features all new, color coded, illuminated sliders.
This is the one and only chance to get your hands on a drastically superior version of a classic synthesizer. The illumination of the sliders is remarkable, but that is not the focus of this modification. The replacement sliders are of a much better quality than the originals and feature a teflon bushing for much better action and tactile feel. The precision of these sliders makes tuning the VCOs much easier and the VCOs actually stay in tune! The modulation attenuators have a much better range. The filter FC and resonance sliders are never scratchy and have a wonderful feel when you want to "play" them.
In my opinion, the big thing wrong with the ARP Odyssey, from the very beginning, was the sliders. They were garbage from day one. Sorry Alan. Changing the sliders to high quality teflon units makes a giant difference in the operation of an ARP Odyssey. Custom light sliders.

ReplyDeleteI love it......and i WANT it.....DAMN!
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait till this is an option, might have to get myself an Odyssey once again.....
ReplyDeleteI guess the photos dont do it justice, it will look even better in reality (not like x-mas tree LOL). Very good move about the fader replacement kit anyway. Beside the Pro One and the Moog MG 1 this was the most notorious "rotting away parts" synth I guess.
ReplyDeleteI desire this unit in a dirty way.
ReplyDeleteI wonder how much the kits will cost? It's really hard to justify $2500+ for this considering a mint Odyssey can be had for $1200. I'm highly doubting these fader kits will cost $1300....but who knows.
ReplyDeleteYes. Very nice.
ReplyDeleteBest. Mod. Ever.
ReplyDeleteWhere do you get those LED sliders?
ReplyDeleteI want to upgrade my Super Jupiter MKS-80 with them. I hope they are available as 100K one inch long sliders.
The lfo slider should blink at the lfo rate.
ReplyDeleteAnd the vca cv and vcf cv should light up on the amount of cv to.
:)
I got to see this unit in person last year - awesomely pretty.
ReplyDeleteI'd certainly get the upgrade kit for my Avatar if it were available.
These are awesome. I would love to see these on my juno! :)
ReplyDeleteBlinking at the same rate as the LFO would be neat, but too much blinkly blink is no good (imo)
It would be nice to be able to control the brightness as well.
imagine an ARP 2600 with this :-)
ReplyDeleteSuddenly, I feel a tightness in my pants.
ReplyDeleteHoly Mother-F-ing-Christ-in-a-Chicken -Basket is that rad.
OH MAN !!!!!! I want those on my 2600 so BAD !!!!!!j
ReplyDeleteForget a 2600 with this.
ReplyDeleteImagine a 2500 with this!
errr.. the 2500 has knobs not sliders
ReplyDeleteAn ARP 2500 has LOTS of sliders, not just knobs.
ReplyDeleteActually the Arp 2500 has exactly ZERO sliders....as you can see here:

Maybe your were mistaking the pin matrix as sliders?
I guess I was. I thought all along those were sliders. learn something new...
ReplyDeleteI'm picturing a JD800 done like this...
ReplyDeleteS.E.X.Y.
ReplyDeleteOMGWTFBBQ!!!
ReplyDeleteTo paraphrase sensorium, "the 2500 has exactly ZERO pin matrices".
Those are slide switches in a matrix.
No pins present.
aw... thought those pins were sliders.
ReplyDeleteok, Imagine a 2600 with this! ;)
thanks for the clarification.
