  1. Those seem like old clips, as he put that Mackie board up for sale years ago.

  2. P's the man.

Seems like an oddball process: digital tracks to analog mixer (with digital effects sends, analog returns) ultimately being bounced to digital... Why not use a digital board? But it's completely irrelevant because that man makes some of the best sounding stuff on the planet.

Where's the Metasonix tag? "Not that interesting really" ha.

  5. This is evidence that the best music can be made without the best equipment. I wonder who does his mastering?

  6. Disclaimer: I don't know any of these people. My infos come from word of mouth in the psy/ambient scene and the interwobs.

The first Hallucinogen album "Twisted" was mastered by Jack Adams.

The next (and very classic) album "The Lone Deranger" I don't know. Perhaps it was simon p?

The first (and by far the most inspired/best IMO) Shpongle album "Are you shpongled" was mastered by Dave Bernez.

Kevin Metcalfe mastered the last Shpongle album "Nothing lasts but nothing is lost", the remix album, and both Younger Brother albums: "A Flock of Bleeps" and "The Last Days of Gravity." He did Augustus Pablo records if that tells you anything :)

I don't know who did the 2nd Shpongle album. I presume it was Metcalfe--it introduces a standard of production quality in all later Simon P releases.

Also worth mentioning is a man by the name of Ott who has been working with hallucinogen/shpongle since I don't know when. He created an absolutely jaw-dropping set of Hallucinogen remixes called "In Dub" and has made two astounding solo albums (though the first "Blumenkraft" is the best by far IMO). Metcalfe has mastering credits on Ott's work, too.

For anyone interested in the awesomeness that is Simon Posford's music, the following releases are the essentials (in chronological order):

    Hallucinogen - Twisted
Mystery of the Yeti - Self titled
    Hallucinogen - The Long Deranger
    Shpongle - Are You Shpongled?
    Celtic Cross - Hisckville
Dub Trees - Never Did Nature Betray the Heart That Loved Her
Hallucinogen - In Dub (see also: Ott)
Younger Brother - The Last Days of Gravity

And never forget Ott! Get the album "Blumenkraft."

... I have to say, I am NOT a psytrance fanatic (though I used to be). The albums I have listed are essential for anyone interested in electronic music.
