  1. Ah, of course! Thanks for the reminder. :)

  2. Kind of sterile and lifeless looking. Almost like a shot of someone's office cubicle. Is that an electric shaver in the upper left hand corner? Bring back the big ugly analog machines!

  3. Derek - that "shaver" is a Zoom H2 portable recorder. My first thought when seeing this setup was "Those guys must have the same small budget as me! Instead of buying a few big things, they get a ton of small, cheap gadgets". Of course, I bet they chose those more for being "portable".

  4. I read a great review of this show. Derek do you have any idea what it would cost to ship big ugly analog machines? To say nothing of airport baggage handling.
It would be great to see the old machines but I believe Mr. Carter has sold much of that due to the high cost of maintenance.

  5. Chris has a flickr page w tour and travel photos. Everything fit into a pelican case, which makes it easy and portable. I'm sure they don't even have most of those machines anymore, too. I know there's been problems w rights to masters, etc (Genesis owns them all), so I bet some stuff is playing off the zoom in it's entirety then put thru efx.

  6. Chef Barry, yes unfortunately I do know how difficult schlepping around big analog machines. I travel at least once a month around Europe with my own, and live in fear of the gorilla baggage handlers behind the scenes. Of course I'm sympathetic to people gigging, but it doesn't change the fact that 99% of laptop gigs and setups look like internet cafes. Maybe I'm longing for something more physical and more real. Just because it's easier to carry around doesn't make it any more interesting to watch or listen to. Cheers!
