One Million Users Sound Off with Smule's Ocarina

Fun bit of trivia:
"Today, at the Apple WWDC, Dr. Ge Wang will present “The Story of Smule, So Far” during a lunchtime session. During his talk, Dr. Wang, the cofounder and CTO of Smule, will announce that the Ocarina, the first app to transform the iPhone into an expressive musical wind instrument, has now more reached than 1 million users.

In fact, the millionth user downloaded Ocarina to an iPhone 3G, and connected to the Smule network from Japan. The user, who has nicknamed his / her Ocarina “Yuka”, (map) has listened to 58 snippets of performances from fellow Ocarina users around the world.

You can hear it here at: http://174.129.201.233/app/ocarina/render/C91/1BD1/yuka_2009-05-31_21-23-23_EA425.m4a

Ocarina, one of Apple’s all-time top 20 iPhone apps, has brought millions of people together across the globe. To date, more than 40 million performances have been observed and appreciated. A passionate Ocarina community has also formed and, using an online composition tool at smule.com, users have uploaded over 1,500 compositions for fellow Ocarina enthusiasts to learn and perform.

If you’d like to see the Ocarina in action, there are many clever, creative videos created by users and posted to YouTube, including http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EhhtFAT2HqM"
