I suppose that was inevitable...
ReplyDeletewho started this 'let's circuit bend anything electronic that produces a sound' fad? or was it always there?
ReplyDelete"Hey lookguys I circuit bent my toaster ! "
ReplyDeleteCircuit bent toaster! LOL Good one!
ReplyDeleteI don't understand it either... why not just put some distorition FX on it as a short cut. Occasionally, one will sound a little different but.... is it really worth it?
Jamming to Kraftwerk's Computer Love ATM....
Weather its a modular or toy piano circuit someone is using it to feed there hunger for sound exploration. Honestly I think this should be encouraged and not ostracized. If you don't like it then to each there own, I have met people that didn't care for synths in general before. What may twist an arm to some may tickle it for others. I still don't condone bending something and selling it for triple or more its worth though.
ReplyDelete- Trash Waveform
I don't think anyone is trying to discourage hunger for sound exploration.... it's just seems that "everything" is being circuit bent and some think it's a bit funny.... got to have a sense of humor. I wasn't even commenting on this guys bent toy.... I was just commenting on circuit bending in general.
ReplyDeleteSee, the thing is if you had enough creativity, you could use a toaster as a starting point for something that sounds great. I think the big problem with circuit bending is that people see so many TI and Casio SK circuits and they start to think that those are the only worthwhile targets. Maybe circuit bending a toaster, or dare i say a washing machine, might be where the true creativity and ingenuity lies.
ReplyDeletePersonally, i think a toaster would be a cool starting point for a jazz reverb amp. Next time you're shaking out the crumbs, actually listen to what it sounds like.
