Anyone confirm this? I know the Maestro USS-1 was designed by Tom Oberheim. There is also the Maestro Ring Modulator, which "was part of the 'Analog synthesizer' module that Bob Moog, Tom Oberheim and the folks at ARP worked on in the 70s."

ReplyDeleteI can confirm that the Ring Modulator was designed by Tom Oberheim BEFORE his stuff was being branded for Maestro. It was used on the soundtrack of Planet Of The Apes.
ReplyDeleteMr. Oberheim also designed much of the USS-1 which was a multi effect device sold by Maestro who were owned by Gibson.
Gibson also bought Norlin which owned Moog and Bob Moog stayed with the company until about 76.
What this gibberish about ARP in this whole thing I don't know. Unless somehow the fact that early on Oberheim made an ARP compatible sequencer.
It doesn't matter though, the internet doesn't need to be right.
I think I have a friend that has one still in the box. I was going to have here just sell it a garage sale. Who knew it was so valuable
