There's a site that lets you play 2 youtube videos at the same time, with a crossfader for the audio, so I uploaded the two tracks and since their timing is identical, you can switch back and fourth to hear the difference between analog and digital. I just thought that it's something that might be suitable for an item on Matrixsynth... check it out"
Anyone know how to launch the two videos in sync?
Call me crazy but I like the FM 7 sounds better then the analog.... not that the analog sounds bad... just different.
ReplyDeleteMy 2 cents is that the analog mix sounds smoother and more musical to my ears, but that it needs some basic mastering, especially some air...

ReplyDeleteKhoral: actually the FM version was done without any DAW mixing or plug ins, only raw synth, while the analog needed lots of EQ, compression and reverb to sound as it does.
I guess that the crispy digital highs make the difference in this case, although they do get trashed quite badly by youtube's codec.

ReplyDeleteMayeb I should have been more descriptive in my post. I didn't say/imply that just because it has more high end it sounds better. To me these FM7 sounds have more interesting sonic character. It also depends on what you're listening for...if you're listening for which sound has more deeper range low end sound, then it's usually analog. Each person will have their own opinion, of course.
