"What Analog Synth Lab is all about is bringing the technology to you; those who are interested in making music and synthesizing but can't afford the old classic vintage synths or you just don't know where to start.
If you're a synth wizard or you're new to the whole thing; Analog Synth Lab will cater for your needs.
You can play the synths with your PC (qwerty) keyboard, a midi keyboard or a sequencer (both hardware and software sequencers supported) and tweak the knobs and relish in the sound of analog synthesizers.
If you have no knowledge about synthesizers then don't worry. There are lots of preset sounds so you can get playing straight away. And if you are feeling adventurous then twiddle with any of the knobs to see how it changes the sound.
Have a classic part of history in your computer and be a part of the electronic generation!"

that top 3D drawing is whack
ReplyDeleteit certainly looks quite like a jupiter 8, and with synthesisers that's the main thing....
ReplyDeleteWhat's worse than Arturia's emulation of the JP8?
ReplyDeleteHaha at the Thriller starter. I did the same thing on my Andromeda : http://www.amonvision.com/aspnet_client/andromeda.mp3
Sounds way better from the Andromeda.
What's worse? Well, something quickly hacked together on a copy of SynthEdit with no attention paid to anything but appearance. That's worse.
ReplyDeleteI just emailed the seller about this and whether they knocked it up in synthedit, he responded.
ReplyDelete"Hi,
Thanks for your reply.
No, the synth wasn't made with SynthEdit. This synth is a standalone only application and not a VSTi - which SynthEdit synths are.
Hope this helps and if you have any other questions, don't hesitate to get in touch.
Thanks
Rob"
He's right, AFAIK you can't make standalones with SynthEdit. ?? Anybody know any history on this company? Not much comes up on google?
The consensus when this came up on KVR was that they were made with SynthMaker, so strictly speaking he isn't lying. However, his decision to not make VSTis is just downright peculiar - and highly indicative of something fishy going on.

And it turns out that SynthMaker can export standalone applications as well as VSTis. Which would appear to settle that...
ReplyDeleteAm I the only one ready to cut this guy a break? Okay, maybe they arent' the world's best soft synths, but he's not charging a lot for them either. They look decent. I've heard worse demos.
ReplyDeleteI don't know this programmer from Adam, but if he came to me applying for a job, and showed off these synths as work product, I would be impressed. He had to learn Synthmaker, then study the synths to be emulated and assemble the objects necessary to emulate the synths. Then he set up a simple no-frills ecommerce web site to sell them. It takes brains and initiative to do this. I'm sure he learned a lot from the process. (And if the programmer is a she, you have my apologies.)
I own this emulation along with one of the other ones for sale and there are a few things folks should know about "Analog Synth Lab" instrument software -
ReplyDeleteThe software has had No updates since the exclusive e-bay store went on-line, that's been over a year ago.
There are , at least with this one and the other I bought, Only 17 Presets. You may say "well, make your Own Why don't ya'". You would actually be better off if you indead did because the provided presets are very poor attempts to emulated the said Synth they are implying to emulate.
That bring me to another thing you should know (and thats just it alot of people don't know this) The synth's Filter is the heart and soul of any particular Synth's sound. I used the Demo of Arturia's Jupiter 8V and Prophet V's presets as a "Blueprint" for creating patches for my ASL Juniper 8 and the Prophesizer (Prophet 5 clone).
If Arturia really has what they clame, closest emulation of vintage synthesizer instruments, then Analog Synth lab instruments sound Very Little like their said counterparts!
I might add that yes, the speculation of other users here are confirmed, These software instruments are made with Synthmaker. I have a "lite" version of the software that came on an issue of CM Magazine. You can throw together instruments with dozens of oscilators and wave forms in no time flat, even skin the things to look like "what ever" and hide the "made with Synthmaker" logo.
Oh, one more thing, the developer takes quite a while to answer e-mails, and when he does, you really have to read between the lines.
Well done Analogue Synth Labs - ignore these small minded comments... I quite happily pay 7.99 / 10.99 instead of investing 100/200 hrs of my time learning how to make Synthmaker emulations. You deserve praise whatever you have used to build and create your synths purely for your dedication and knowledge of synthesis - I could not and would not have the time to do the same and will quite happily pay you 8 Quid. Get off his case and lets see something you have done ... and if it's any better I'll pay you 8 quid too.
ReplyDeleteWell I emailed him to ask if this Juniper 8 was anything like Jupiter 8V and I never got any reply!!
