I wouldn't pay $1400, but compared to what else you're likely to find out there, it would be some peace of mind... especially if you don't live near a repair shop.
I have a polysix that I put through a similar restoration process - actually, it was the first synthwood polysix case. It was roughly $200. I swapped out the cases which wasn't too bad, but I know my way around synths. Repair bill from the battery leakage & a broken key was roughly $80.
My point is that a synth in this condition and with these parts is a big difference from what you usually get on ebay/craigslist. The price reflects that to an extent. Even one that's brand new - I prefer the real wood cases to the crappy particle board/laminate/mdf.
Some people are willing to pay for that. Others call it price gouging.
onkloud9 always sets the prices a bit high but the price does include shipping.
ReplyDeleteHow is he an ass? 25+ year old synth, perfect working condition, cleaned, calibrated, $300 case with packing & shipping included?!
ReplyDeleteSounds like the going rate to me.
it wouldn't be worth $1400 unless it had been sitting unopened in a box all these years. i hate this recent price-gouging of analog machines..
ReplyDeleteIt's worth what the market will pay.
