Tama Techstar TS206 demonstration, pads knobs and external input YouTube via Mamiya645 "Tama Techstar TS206 demonstration, pads knobs and external input. This is a 1984 drum brain that consists of two analogue synth modules factory-tuned for toms, in a nearly-19" rackable unit. I only found TS305 material on the internet so I figured I'd start documenting the TS206. It turns out to be so much more than a mere drum brain, after the camera ran out of juice I basically had it tuned into a monophonic synthesizer. Wonder how I can add envelope controls and more, if it's at all possible? Tama Techstar units are a DIY electro-musicians dream, do yourself a favour and pick 'em up! The pads you see in the start are original Tama Techstar, the drum skins are not. If you're curious, I got the entire kit including tom stand (also original Tama-line model, but different brandname) for approximately 70€. ----- Since recording this video I've mounted it in my rack - so much better like that. My TX16w has two channels of sinewaves each on a separate output to trigger the TS206, a few TS206 samples given their own channels spread over the keys (synth-y bleeps and sweeps, etc), and then a big channel with most of the plain percussion samples in it." No-input feedback mixer, Korg KP3, Tama TS206, Roland R8, etc"

"This was mostly an experiment to try to get a chest-mounted camera going but what the hey, I'll upload it. For the camera view - I mounted the camera (Canon PowerShot S2 IS) on a tiny desktop tripod, wore the camera strap around my neck and used my belly for to support the bottom two legs of the tripod the best I could. A bit wobbly, but it works fairly well. Can be improved using some straps and suspenders mayhaps. I moved things around to make room for what I use the most (missing effects and a ghetto-taurus hackjob I'm soon going to build). There is: Behringer UB 802 mixer - No-input feedback semi-modular synth stuff Korg KP3 - Various filters and effects, and splitting audio out to mixer and TS206 Tama Techstar TS206 - A very very soft bassline from the KP3 headphone audio out Roland R8 - Bbroken ROM port, can I take the RAM slot pieces to fix it? Phonic M1002 mixer - Made in china, but appears to be from better parts than Behringers and such"

My midi tama ts306

YouTube via bdufdiskc

"This is an old tama ts306 drum synth brain. Originally intended for use with a set of electronic drum triggers, it had no midi, only trigger inputs. Thanks to the wonder of modern DIY electronic kits (thanks Paul Maddox and Laurie Biddulph!) I have installed a midi conversion kit. This is me playing it from my Korg electribe ER1. Also, some extra squawks from a bird we were birdsitting at the time."
