  1. The wood fetish seems a little silly applied to such a thoroughly modern instrument.

  2. Really? I think it's nice. Have you seen a Virus lately?

  3. Yes. I think any modern, mass-produced synth with wood (or "wood effect") sides is just a manufacturer's attempt to capitalize on our nostalgia. Even if the wood is real (much of it is not), wood is not the best material for synth construction. It may be appropriate on a real analog synth with the history and impact of the Voyager, but a blatantly digital synth like the Blofeld? A ROMpler like the Yamaha S90? It's just my opinion, but I can't wait for the fashion to fade.

  4. There's nothing wrong witn digital synths, specially with Waldorfs. It's the same with digital and analog delays, both can be great in their own right, in their own sonic fields.
It's simply a beautyful aesthetic finishing. And I love it in this particular case, as the Blofeld design is already cool but may be a bit too reduced to the max and cold looking for my taste.
I agree with you in that the companys always try to stimulate our inconscient desires and I don't think that wood adds nothing but beautyness to both digital and analog synths. Obviusly it does not define the sound as happens with guitars etc.
BTW I hate fake wood finishing.
