It pays to do your homework well so you don't regret your purchase. One of the features that I love in a messenger bag is its being weatherproof. Come rain or shine, it has to hold up and protect my valuables inside. I also appreciate that the bag be lightweight and sleek - definitely NO to bulkiness.
