Buchla experimented with touch sensitive plates back in the 60s, specifically the 216 Touch Controlled Voltage Source, and of course still does so today with the Model 222e Multi Dimentional Kinesthetic Input Port.

    i think this combination of iPad / touchosc and the buchla midi decoder is my favourite musical invention since the fairlight and light pen
