Pictured here you can see his mighty Yamaha CS80, a Sequential Circuits Prophet-10, what looks like a Fairlight CMI Monitor (turns out it isn't - see the comments in this post), a Simmons V drum rack with pad triggers, and I'm not sure what the SEM looking box is. I thought it might be one of his custom preset boxes pictured here, but it clearly is not. If anyone knows, feel free to comment.
Update via the comments: "The SEM-looking box on top of the 19" rack is the controller (LARC) for a Lexicon 224 reverb unit."

ReplyDeleteThanks!
ReplyDeleteNotice the Yamaha GS-1 is also in one of the other photos, scroll to page 7 http://www.nemostudios.co.uk/bladerunner/ and click on the thumbnails
ReplyDelete"The television screen on top of the grand piano behind Vangelis assisted the studio engineer at the mixing desk." Not a Fairlight monitor.
ReplyDeleteLovely link, thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteVangelis never owned a Fairlight. Correct, that is a Lexicon 224 remote. Technically it's called a "Remote Head" since "LARC" wasn't coined until later hardware but the idea is the same. I believe he bought a 224x around the time of Blade Runner and didn't sell or trade in his original 224. I'm just curious if anyone is a big enough Lexicon and Blade Runner fan to a) confirm he used a 224X (Blue controller box) on Blade Runner instead of or along with. As for the SEM, while misidentified, Vangelis owns at least a Two Voice
