DIY Analog Synth Workshops
The presentation of the Befaco collective in the Berlin scene and the first modular synth praxis workshop will be next November 21st/22nd.
We will be building some of our standalone devices like:

•Slicer V3: An hybrid between an analog Cv/gate sequencer, a scanning slider VCO and an audio slicer.

Quad-T: A small drum synth based on the famous twin-t oscillator used in a lot of drum machines in the analog golden era.

Cacophonator 6DE
This kit is a Cacophonator II, originally designed by Arthur Harrison, the circuit is based in IC 40106, which has six trigger schmidt that, properly connected, generate 6 square wave oscillators. In the links section you can find technical information from original design.

Four of these oscillators are directly connected to the output, creating a weird sonic hodgepodge. The other two have a different polarization and are LFOs, but they have no sound output. They're there just to bothe the other oscillators. (Yes, to bother them!) !But how? Here's the fun of this circuitr: Power starvation. When the IC has it's power lowered the trigger Schmidt gates from 40106 start behaving funny in a struggle for power. The two extra oscillators do not have audio output, but affect the sound of the other as they also demand a share of the power. The circuit has a high value capacitor, which allows this circuit to be used turned off. With a press of the button that capacitor is charged and will act as power source. As charge on the capacitor falls, Oscillators will slowly die, producing tasty weird sounds.

Audio input is directly connected to Osc 4, where will affect this oscillator and will also be added to the output. This option works great when starvation is high, when plugging a rythmic signal in, you will hear the 6DE generating synchronized noises.
