MEGA patching techniques with RANDOM8 in VCV Rack & Eurorack

video upload by Omri Cohen

"In this video, I show various patching ideas and techniques with the new RANDOM8 from Befaco and Myler Melodies. Random8 is available for free in VCV Rack, and I show a few ideas with the hardware version as well.

I added the ideas from this video to the PDF of VCV tips and tricks I keep on updating. It's available on my Patreon together with lots of other exclusive content - / vcv-rack-tips-119073839"

808/26 Happy 808 Day! Blue Lantern triggers DSP 808 & Birdkids Unicorn Boom + Gieskes No Drum + (…)

video upload by Cfpp0

"808/26 Happy 808 Day! Blue Lantern Modular MR fill gates & Gate Sequencer + DSP 808 + Birdkids Unicorn Boom + Gieskes No Drum & Starving Binary + Befaco Mutes + ALM Pamela’s New Workout + Alesis MIDIVERB II + CXM 1978

It’s 808 Day again and we still don’t have a Roland TR-808, but this beat uses two 808 clone modules—the DSP Synthesizers 808 Vintage and the Birdkids Unicorn Boom. The DSP 808 module has only one output, but has several different samples to trigger individually. We just got the Blue Lantern MR fill gates module and it is triggering quarter notes on the DSP 808 bass drum. One of the three Blue Lantern Gate Sequencers is triggering half notes on the Birdkids Unicorn Boom. Another Gate Sequencer is triggering an open hi hat on the DSP 808, through a Befaco Mutes so I can turn it on and off. And the last Gate Sequencer is triggering the closed hi hat, but the triggers run first through the Olivia Artz Modular Uncertainty module, for some minor random dropouts. The second output on that closed hi hat Gate Sequencer runs to the Gieskes Starving Binary clock divider, with two divisions modulating the Gieskes No Drums and another division triggering the Birdkids Unicorn Boom accent input. The No. drums is also triggered by the open hi hat Gate Sequencer. The reverb is Alesis MIDIVERB II and the delay is CXM 1978."

Mylar Melodies Random8 Review

video upload by Molten Music Technology

"In collaboration with Befaco, Mylar Melodies has forged an 8-channel random CV generator called the Random8. From the starting point of random voltages you can scale, offset, time divide, quantize, slew, loop, evolve and save it all as a preset. I do a deep dive into what's going on and have a lovely time in the presence of so much fabulous voltage."

Subtle Expressions: Squarp Instruments Hapax Performance

video upload by MKustomAudio

"With recently obtaining the Squarp Instruments Hapax to act as my main standalone sequencer, I've been diving deep into all the functions it offers. This is the first track I've made putting together a number of items such as automation, assign controls, creative MIDI effects (register, arpoly, etc.), BPM elasticity, and adjustable start/stop loop lengths. I've added notes in the video explaining some key points for the track and additional equipment used, but below is a more detailed list of the sound sources:

Korg Arp 2600 M
Novation Peak
Novation Bass Station II
Korg Opsix
Sequential OB-6 Desktop
Elektron Digitakt II
Befaco Oneiroi
Soma Lyra-8, Erica Synths Black 3109 VCF/VCA, Qu-Bit Mojave
Make Noise STO + Schlappi Engineering Angle Grinder, Make Noise QPAS, Intellijel Sealegs
Moog Mother 32, Ritual Electronics Miasma (Erica Synths Black Polivoks VCF in feedback loop), Erica Synths Blackhole DSP2"

5 Patches with the Befaco Iroi module

video upload by Modular Fungi and Omri Cohen

"The tracks from this video are also available as a free EP on Bandcamp - https://omricohencomposer.bandcamp.co...

Patch 1 - 00:00
--------

In this one, I'm using noise from Noise Plethora to excite Iroi. I'm using a band pass filter on Noise Plethora, sequencing it with the Voltage Block. On Iroi, I'm using the comb filter with internal modulation on the resonance. I'm also using the resonator with modulation on the feedback, and the echo and ambience. The levels of the resonator, echo, and ambience, are sequenced by the Voltage Block. I'm then sending Iroi to the Zagreb filter from Xaoc, using its low pass filter with noise modulation of the spread control. I'm also using the high pass output of Zagreb, sending it through the Guillotine distortion module, and from there, to the EON filter. This is going to 2 delays on Samarkanda, so only when I open the EON filter, the sound goes to the delays, and I play with the delay times.

3 Reasons Why Random Voltages are ACE!! // RANDOM8 from Mylar Melodies & Befaco

video upload by DivKid

"Here's a 3 patches series video that distils down many of the reasons I think random voltages are ace to just 3 examples. It's also a bit of a quick demo of the fantastic new RANDOM8, your new random mate from your pal and mine Mylar Melodies (and Befaco)."

*TIMING INDEX // CHAPTERS*
00:00 Hello & previews
00:50 What is Random8 & what are we doing here?

3 PATCHES WITH INCREASING AMOUNTS OF RANDOM
Patch 1 // Random for people that don’t like random (fools!)
02:58 Adding exciting movement to basic synth voices
Patch 2 // Looping random for melodies & riffs
07:17 Looping melodies & modulation for techno jams
Patch 3 // Embrace the random - let the random enter you, be you, surround you
14:54 Generative ambient Krell

THIS VIDEO IS NOT SPONSORED BY ANYONE I was sent the module by Mylar Melodies & Befaco to use as I like but they did not pay for, or have any say in this video. Any questions as always, just ask, clarity is always best."

A demo of RANDOM8: The world's most random module?

video upload by mylarmelodies

"Here's a demo of RANDOM8 (which is out now!) - it gives you 8 stepped or smooth random voltages in 8HP, with per channel looping & attenuator controls, pitch quantiser & more. It's designed to make your modular sound more alive & I designed it in collaboration with Befaco. First I'll explain it (2:33), then we'll Rings in to Clouds it (17:07), then we'll make drums and techno with it (27:42).

I managed to forget to show you how to reset channels to default settings! Just hold the channel button(s) down for 5 seconds. To reset all 8 channels, hold the top and bottom channels for 5 seconds."

Introducing RANDOM8: 8 Looping Random Voltages in 8HP

video upload by mylarmelodies and Befacosynth

"**OUT JUNE 15TH - MORE INFO HERE & DEALERS: https://www.befaco.org/random8 ** 🙌 HELLO M8! Please meet the module I've been making with Befaco! 🟠 RANDOM8 is a random voltage generator designed bring a whole modular to life, in the smallest possible space. You get 8 independent random voltage generators, with dedicated per-channel looping buttons and attenuators, in just 8HP(!) It's what I've wished I could have in my live modular for a long time - a stupid amount of per-step modulation in a small space, yet you can control the looping instantly.

RANDOM8 is previewing at the Superbooth 2026 show in Berlin May 7-9 2026, and in dealer hands for sale on June 15th. Visit Befaco's tent at Z180 to give it a squiggle!

There is a limited batch to start with and more will follow. Thank you, M8s."
