Korg iMS20 is an iPad app that aims to emulate the sound of classic Korg MS20 and add extra functionality as Kaosspad, a sequencer, a drum machine and a composer of songs based on patterns.

Korg Monotribe analog synthesizer is a ribbon (ribbon). At least for me, this little guy has proven to be a surprise as it is a powerful synthesizer with character, that does justice to those legendary analog synthesizers that several decades ago stopped producing Korg.

The aim of the video is to show how, through the application SyncKontrol, used an iPhone, you can sync the digital world (iMS20) with analog realm (Monotribe).

Following the setup of the video:

SYNC

iMS20 (iPad) is enslaved to SyncKontrol (iPhone) via WIST. This way we can, from the iPhone, give play / stop and manipulate tempo.
Monotribe is enslaved to SyncKontrol (iPhone) connecting Monotribe Sync-IN to the output of the iPhone, using a miniplug cord.
Thus, giving the SyncKontrol play from the iPhone, we can establish perfect synchrony between iMS20 and Monotribe, MIDI without.

AUDIO

iPad: output stereo audio console, without intermediate processing.
Monotribe: Aux mono output to a Monotron Delay.
Monotron Delay: output monaural audio console.

Using Monotron Delay allows us to expand the possibilities of sound experimentation with the Monotribe.

This is a very easy to use in combination SYNC sync tools and WIST (Wireless Sync-Start Technology) to live analog and digital tools. There are other applications that support WIST sync as ReBirth, NLog and Tabletop, among many others.

Korg iMS20 es una aplicación para iPad que pretende emular el sonido del clásico Korg MS20 y agregarle funcionalidades adicionales como un Kaosspad, un secuenciador, una caja de ritmos y un compositor de canciones basado en patrones.

Korg Monotribe es un sintetizador análogo de listón (ribbon). Al menos para mí, este pequeño amigo ha resultado ser una sorpresa ya que es un sintetizador poderoso, con carácter, que le hace justicia a aquellos legendarios sintetizadores análogos que hace ya varias décadas dejó de producir Korg.

El objetivo del video es mostrar cómo, a través de la aplicación SyncKontrol, usada desde un iPhone, podemos sincronizar el mundo digital (iMS20) con el reino análogo (Monotribe).

A continuación el setup del video:

SYNC

iMS20 (iPad) está esclavizado al SyncKontrol (iPhone) a través de WIST. De esta manera podemos, desde el iPhone, dar play/stop y manipular el tempo.
Monotribe está esclavizado al SyncKontrol (iPhone) conectando Sync-IN del Monotribe a la salida del iPhone, utilizando un cable miniplug.
De esta forma, dando play en el SyncKontrol desde el iPhone, podemos establecer perfecta sincronía entre el iMS20 y el Monotribe, sin necesidad de MIDI.

AUDIO

iPad: salida estéreo a la consola de audio; sin procesamiento intermedio.
Monotribe: salida monoaural a entrada auxiliar de un Monotron Delay.
Monotron Delay: salida monoaural a consola de audio.

El uso de Monotron Delay nos permite ampliar las posibilidades de experimentación sonora con el Monotribe.

No se utilizó ningún otro procesamiento adicional.

Este es una forma muy sencilla de utilizar de manera combinada las herramientas de sincronía SYNC y WIST (Wireless Sync-Start Technology) para hacer convivir herramientas análogas y digitales. Existen otras aplicaciones que soportan sincronía WIST, como ReBirth, NLog y Tabletop, entre muchas otras.
