Boards of Canada - Roygbiv (COVER by Pece) / KORG Volca Bass

"From Wikipedia: 'Roy G. Biv is an acronym for the sequence of hues commonly described as making up a rainbow: Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo and Violet.
A rainbow spans a continuous spectrum of colors; the distinct bands are an artifact of human color vision.'

I decided to keep the sound close to the original. It took a lot of work but I had a lot of fun too. Big respect to BOC for making up such a splendid melody and catching the uncatchable.

Everything is mixed in Reaper. I used a lot of VST processing, especially on piano.

Beat was made from various samples and I used a little bit of bit crusher effect to emulate the sound of 12bit samplers which BOC apparently love.

The sample of the kid saying "hey" was taken from the original with low pass and high pass filter applied.

If you try to emulate their sound you instantly know why they always say things in interviews like how they shape the sound of hihat for a few days and about all the hard processing job. Yes, indeed, this is the hardest part in this type of music.

Synths used: Yamaha DX100 for piano, KORG Volca Bass for bassline, Waldorf Blofeld for main melody and the melody at 0:35, Yamaha AN1X for the melody at 0:45.
