Bob Moog Foundation Presents Dr. Bob's Sonic Workshop as Part of North Carolina Science Festival

"Asheville, NC - April 06, 2015...

Following the success and enthusiasm around its hallmark educational project, Dr. Bob's SoundSchool, the Bob Moog Foundation is bringing a one-hour workshop preview into its innovative science program to Charlotte, North Carolina, in cooperation with the North Carolina Science Festival. Two sessions of Dr. Bob's Sonic Workshop will take place at ImaginOn in downtown Charlotte on Saturday, April 11, 2015, at 2pm and 3:30pm. The events are free and open to children ages 7-11.

Dr. Bob's Sonic Workshop is an interactive, experiential hour in which elementary school students learn about the basic physics of sound including vibrations, waveforms, how sound is produced and how it travels. The material and activities in the Workshop are based in a wider 10-week curriculum, Dr. Bob's SoundSchool, which is currently serving over 1,300 children in 60 classrooms.

In the hour-long workshops, sonic ambassadors from the Bob Moog Foundation will lead the young attendees through a series of experiential activities designed to reinforce their engagement in science, and enhance their sense of discovery about the world around them. This endeavor is an extension of the Foundation's mission to inspire future generations by igniting creativity through science, music, and innovation - a mirror of Bob Moog's pioneering legacy.

"The Bob Moog Foundation is thrilled to be bringing our innovative science programming to the Charlotte area, in collaboration with the North Carolina Science Festival," states Michelle Moog-Koussa, Executive Director of the Bob Moog Foundation. "We look forward to carrying Bob Moog's legacy forward by providing a day of sonic exploration for scores of elementary school students. The synergies between the Foundation's work and the mission of the Festival are many, and we are delighted to be part of this state-wide celebration of scientific discovery."
