"Keyboard functions perfectly and was brought up to speed by my tech a few years ago. Among other things, he replaced the inflexible factory connectors (which join the PCBs) with flexible ribbon connectors. The rigid connectors were an Akai design flaw and lead to lots of cracked PCBs, failing membrane buttons, and dead AX 80's. Because of the upgrade, this one will work great for years to come.The unit sounds amazing - it's not quite as warm as most analogs, but not as thin and lifeless as a digital synth. It occupies a unique territory and is very versatile. These are rare, but will make a great addition to your collection.
At some point, the casing to the synth was cracked on both sides. The repair job (before I owned the keyboard) was a little rushed, but in spite of it the board is still sturdy and the casing is solid. I've moved this thing from studio to studio quite a bit and it's still holding strong. The scuffs are strictly cosmetic."
