"Expertly restored and babied all original Prophet 5 Rev 2 (SSM CHIPS) serial number 1066 (Rev 2 serial numbers start at 184 and end at 1299) It has it's original wood case. All the pots are original. All the knobs are original and not reproductions. It has no major cosmetic defects or modifications. Except for the the necessary power supply mod it functions exactly like when it left the factory.

I got this guy at Black Market Music in Los Angles in the 90's. I was "warned" when I bought it from multiple sources that it was "as is" and Rev 1 & 2 Prophets were evil and you should only consider the more stable and more polished sounding Rev 3. I tried to send it to Wine Country for repair and they refused it (they only worked on and sold rev 3s back then) so it sat in a flight case under my bed for over a decade. No case is included in this auction. (The Prophet will be double boxed using inches and inches of the strong bubble wrap and heavy duty boxes. The box is ENORMOUS when completed)

Flash forward to the internet age and I slowly started to figure this guy out. The problem with the Rev 2 that made it so unstable was the power supply. Once that is upgraded it runs cool and works just as good as a Rev 3 but sounds better in my opinion. Most of the "classic" Prophet tracks from the 70s and 80s are Rev 1 and 2 Prophets. It is "the sound" I associate with a Prophet and what made me want one. I associate the sound of the Rev 3 with the slicker more polished late 80s sounds.

I have had the power supply upgraded twice. It currently has the latest and greatest power supply mod that allows it to run cool and protects the machine. It has all new bushings and the keys have been balanced. It has a new battery. All necessary tantalum caps have been replaced. I have had this unit serviced multiple times throughout the years and it is perfect from a functionality standpoint.

Cosmetically it looks sharp with some minor signs of wear and light scratches. It has a few noticeable from the right angle cloudy spots on the face from contact with flight case foam and hand oils over the years. It has a few light scratches on the front and around the body here and there. The very minor wear marks are not that noticeable. It is in overall nice shape. It certainly has NO major damage or modifications. I recently had the entire synth professionally disassembled and every inch of it cleaned and every aspect of it tested. I also had the ORIGINAL WOOD CASE waxed and treated to protect it. This synth has NO musty smell and NO smoke smell. It comes from a nice smoke and pet free climate controlled room."
