VELOCITY SYNTH MEET Coming to Seattle October 5th

Details here:

4ms Company offers alternatives to traditional instruments with our poly-rhythmic clock modules that create evolving complex mathematical beat patterns, a resonator that can cast pop music into micro-tonal keys, a multi-channel wavetable oscillator, a routing matrix that's played like an instrument, and many more innovative devices. Rather than replicate concepts from the past, we strive to turn unique ideas into playable musical tools that expand the possibilities of music. We also offer Do-It-Yourself kits, and many of our designs are open-source.

AI Synthesis
In the year 2000, I was in college and obsessed with modular synths, but could barely afford to eat. I knew it was possible to build your own synth, but there wasn’t anyone, or anywhere to turn to for advice. In the past decade, much more information has been published online, and in 2013 I started down my path to DIY modular. Even with all of the information online, there still lacked a single, simple comprehensive guide for those looking to build their own synthesizer. I want AI Synthesis to be that guide. Prior to building my own synth, I was a dreamer, after building my modular, I felt I had awoken. I created AI Synthesis to help others do the same.

Ambianimity Unlimited

Ambianimity is a word Lars Jensen invented out of Latin verb roots back in high school years while working at Radioshack. Soon after that this same person was working at the inventor of computer graphic's vr lab for an invention but was put to work making soundtracks. Before my boss got fired at the research lab I was to set up an ATR project funded by Roland Sony and Yamaha at the Seattle Art Museum with my music in it. I went to electronics school for automatic factories after that, but became disillusioned with some of the things expected in ac analysis and still need to finish. why when synthesizers are fine ac sources would we need ac trigonometry, let alone the calculus and physics that we expect they do? After years of just making music after that I got into antenna energy experiments as a way of coping with electromagnetic pollution and went back to school and got a transfer degree with fpga programming and Japanese language included and studied c++ and arduino on my own. I wrote midi commands in strings of hex in software when I was 18, and am happy to be competant in developing midi devices now and not just the midi in the software. Being able to find out something new and useful and developing it myself is important. Inventing things can be relatively useless without development experience.

Since opening shop in 2017, Filip Pietruszewski has focused on engaging the synthesizer community with workshops, synth meets, Sound Labs, and assisting in local experimental music events. CCTV has an open-door policy allowing anyone to repair or build their own instruments, and is a proponent of Right to Repair, and the democratization of knowledge. Filip has nearly a decade experience working in electronic design and manufacture, and shares his experience and knowledge with all.

Empress Effects
At Empress Effects, we strive to make original and exciting effects. Every effort is made to ensure the highest possible sound quality in every pedal. We aim to maximize the tonal possibilities with innovative features, yet remain focused on providing an intuitive user experience while keeping the footprint on the pedalboard minimal. Our goal is to inspire musicians, and give them the tools to create any sound they can dream of(and even some they can't).

Industrial Music Electronics

IME was founded in 2007 by Scott Jaeger (b. 1981, Redmond, WA, USA) and is the exclusive outlet for his music instrument design work. The IRON CURTAIN ELECTRONICS series is created in collaboration with Vladimir Kuzmin (b. 1953, Vladivostok, RSFSR), and consists of modular releases of his work on the famous Polivoks synthesizer and more.

IME instruments are suitable for realtime low art enforcement. They provide immediate access to a musically useful way of sonic control, and they directly react to physical displacement in the form of control voltages. They don’t use narrow, menu-driven user interfaces or organ keyboards, and the arrangement of the controls is memorable. Preference is given to extreme and corrupt sonic character, but the devices are naturally able to produce most sounds due to their modular, analog/digital hybrid design.

IME formerly operated as The Harvestman Digital Audio Electronics until 2015. Products are manufactured in Portland, Oregon at Darkplace Manufacturing.

Intellijel is a Canadian company that creates innovative, high quality devices to aid and inspire modern electronic musicians. Our team comprises engineers, musicians and artists who all share a deep passion for electronic music and a special love for the devices and tools that are used to make it. Intellijel specializes in the design and manufacture of Eurorack format modular synthesizer products.

Since it was founded in 1963, Korg's goal has been to create new experiences in music and performance. That was what drove the creation of Japan's first disc-based rhythm machine, the Doncamatic, and then led to the development of Japan’s first synthesizer and the world's first needle-type tuner, followed by numerous unique instruments that have brought the enjoyment of musical performance to many people all around the world.

Korg is resolved to continue to create innovative and uncompromising instruments which maintain the high quality that inspires professional artists and creators, and yet are approachable enough for anyone to play. The musical instruments Korg will deliver are reflections of the ideas and values of the many artists and users who continue to love Korg products - now and into the future.

Madrona Labs

Founded in 2008 by Randy Jones, Madrona Labs designs and builds electronic musical instruments with a focus on longevity and humane design. Their products include the Soundplane, a multidimensional polyphonic controller, and Aalto, a patchable West Coast-style software synth.

Mordax Systems
Mordax Systems is a Eurorack modular synthesizer and associated music technology company based in Vancouver, Washington, USA. They make hella nerdy kit, like the DATA multifunction module (oscilloscope, tuner, waveform generator, quad clock, and more) and the forthcoming GXN Granular Synthesis System.

Mystic Circuits

Mystic Circuits doesn't do things like everyone else. We aim to push the boundaries of what is possible with synthesizers without getting rid of the fun and levity that makes working with synthesis so transformative. Rather than revamping old ideas, we are interested in the creation of new fundamental building blocks in synthesis.

Recovery Effects

Recovery Effects and Devices is a Seattle based company manufacturing effects, synth modules, and pro audio gear. They create innovative, unique devices with a classic look, that stand apart from the norm, completely hand-wired at their shop in Greenwood.

Schlappi Engineering
Electronic musical instruments for the explorations of further realms, designs informed equally by a long history of performing and recording experimental music with vintage synthesizers and experimentation with the fundamental circuits behind them to create new musical tools. Eurorack modules currently released are: Interstellar Radio, Angle Grinder, 100 Grit.

SYNTHWERKS manufactures Eurorack format music synthesizer modules, with a primary focus on Performance Modules and Utility modules. Performance modules are modules that the synthesist physically interacts with, allowing them more expressive options for control of their synthesizer than the traditional control voltage keyboard, or manually turning knobs on the modules themselves provide. Utilizing analog technologies, a series of Synthwerks Force Sensing Resistor (FSR), Slide pot modules, and Manual Gate pushbutton modules allow the performer a truly analog hands-on control of almost any voltage controlled element of their sound. The Utility Modules can add functionality to a synthesizer rig. These can be as simple as a patch cord checker, a flexible gooseneck LED panel light, USB power access, or a 5 volt power converter, or as complex as a Programmer/Sequencer. Albeit these modules are not as glamorous as a filter or sound source, but once installed and used, they would be sorely missed if absent.

WMD is a manufacturer of music hardware including Modular Synthesizers, Guitar Pedals, and stand alone music instruments. Our focus is to create quality products with an emphasis on features and versatility. More than a brand or a company, we are truly a collection of artists. Each and every one of us make art or music in one way or another. We strive to make products that we would actually use in our everyday musical lives. In order to do this we run an extensive beta testing program in which potential products get put into rigs of our employees and well known artists we have grown close to over the years. They go on tour, get recorded and gigged before they hit the market ensuring a powerful, intuitive feature set and top notch build.
