"Akai S900 sampler upgraded with a Gotek USB floppy drive emulator, and a brand new bright high contrast blue LCD character display. One of the best 12 bit samplers around for that lo-fi crunch! The installed Gotek drive provides 1000 floppy disk images accessible by front buttons for convenient sound recall and storage. Runs either OS 1.2 or can load OS4 from a disk image. OS4 adds additional features, such as an envelope for the analog filter and a cross fade algorithm. The new LCD is very easy to read compared to the original dim LCD, but difficult to accurately depict with my camera. This S900 is 115V North American voltage.

The ram memory (non-expandable) is quite limited at 750k on the S900, but it is still enough to have a number of longer loops in memory at the lowest bit rate setting. It is approximately a minute of audio at the lowest settings. When used creatively and coupled with a sequencer, whole songs can be produced with a single S900 and sounds can be processed separately using the 8 outputs. The S900's lower bit rates are part of the charm to get the crunchiest sounds around! If you're looking for high resolution sampling look elsewhere, this machine is sought after for the unique lofi punchy character it adds."
