"There's a bit of a back story with this unit. I built it when I worked at Sequential Circuits in San Jose - right up until they went out of business and were purchased by Yamaha. I was on the Software Engineering team for the Prophet 3000 (along the way I think I fixed a bug or two in the VS and the Studio 440).

Anyway, this unit was built while I was there, powered up, tested, then fully checked out by the Repair Technician crew at the time. I'm pretty sure this is the last Prophet 5 built at Sequential Circuits.

I've had this beauty for more than 30 years - the original owner, I suppose. I've diligently maintained it - kept it as dust free as possible - and had it repaired when it needed it. It spent a while at SwitchedOn in Austin, where the keybed was completely restored and a couple of connectors inside were replaced. Within the last 30 days, it has visited Riley at Synth-Smith (one of the original Sequential Techs), where it received a tire rotation and oil change. Seriously, he checked it out for me and once again touched up the keybed, check the battery, and confirmed to me (his words) that this was the "tightest, most in tune, and most calibrated Prophet 5 I've ever seen." It works and sounds perfect - I've just finished a project with it.

So, now, however, the time has come for me to part with it. It's cosmetically very good, due to three cosmetic issues. First, the Prophet 5 badge was never placed on the back panel. Second, there are some white marks on the wood panels on the right hand side (check the photo). Also, due to an accident in my dumb youth - a scratch on the front panel, right above the Program Numbers (also visible in photos). I'm calling these out because I don't want the buyer to experience any surprises - so please, check the photos carefully.

It also comes with a non-ATA hard case, which will have added foam to stop movement within the case, then be placed in another shipping box with additional packing materials for protection. That is, if I ship it (I'd rather not - Bay Area Reverb folks). I will ship with full sale price + shipping insurance in the US only. Again, I'd rather not ship it, but I will as requested. Also, I'm willing to drive a bit to arrange a transfer (say 60-90 minutes)."
