"Yankee Dollar" Opening (Miami Vice) "Last Call" Jan Hammer Cover w/"Par Avion" Mike + the Mechanics

Retro-Dade

"I made this Jan Hammer cover many years ago, but it was long-overdue for an update now that I have the mk1 DX7 and Memorymoog. I just ran my original midi file through the new instruments, so no performance video of me in this video--just some stills of the updated instruments along with the original images from the episode, synced to the correct time code. The "Par Avion" song compliments the Jan Hammer song so well, I decided to add/sync that audio as well, and just let the scene play out, as it's one of the more memorable openings of the entire series. Enjoy!

I do not own the video images of Miami Vice or the audio of 'Par Avion', and the original Miami Vice score was composed and performed by Jan Hammer. This video is strictly for entertainment purposes. All rights belong to Universal and Atlantic Records."

  1. Nice work on the opening. I’m a huge fan of Miami Vice and Jan Hammer. I actually watched Stone’s War at lunchtime today.
It’s a shame that so much of the episodic music is unavailable.

Your track is like the old Dadrian Wilson covers of Hammer. Amazing...
