This sampler sounds pretty good. It's got a lo-fi edge due to the fact that it's only a 12-bit rather than 16, 20 or 24-bit sampler. Recently the 12-bit Akai samplers became the most sought after converters from the 80's
The floppy drive is working and it can load samples from the S700 and S612 libraries. For enhanced analog-like editing, the X7000 can be hooked up to Akai AX synthesizers via the DD-X5013 Voice Cable (not included) so you can run the X7000's samples through these synth's analog circuitry.

Just to let you know you still can find some great deals for vintage equipment. Two months ago I got an Akai x-7000 (mint condition) with the memory expansion for $200 Canadian.
