Buchla 200 Classic Reissue Series

video upload by Buchla

"Buchla is very excited to announce the return of the Buchla & Associates 200 series in the form of the Buchla 200 Classic Reissue series of electronic music instrument modules, the very modules that defined West Coast synthesis.

The first wave of 7 modules are available now at https://buchla.com and through authorized dealers. [see the dealers on the right]

Initial quantities are limited. Get yours now.

Another wave coming very soon..."

"For the first time in over 40 years - Buchla has reissued classic 200 series modules - the very modules that defined West Coast synthesis."

The Modules:

Dual Oscillator Model 258 (two knob choices) - $999.00

The Buchla Classic Reissue of the Dual Oscillator Model 258 is comprised of two independent voltage-controlled oscillators, each continuously tunable from 5 Hz to 20 kHz with two frequency CV inputs, waveshape CV input, and an FM input – each parameter with an offset control.

The top oscillator waveshape can be shifted from sine to saw and the bottom oscillator waveshape can be shifted from sine to square, allowing for a great range of timbre."

281 Classic Reissue – Quad Function Generator $999.00

The Buchla Classic Reissue of the Quad Function Generator Model 281. It comprises four function generators organized in two pairs. All four generators can operate independently or can be linked in pairs to generate more complex output voltages.

A switch selects one of three modes: Transient, Sustained, and Cyclic.

Upon receiving a pulse, a generator’s output voltage ramps up to 10V at a rate determined by the sum of an applied control voltage and the setting of the attack time knob. When in Sustained mode, the voltage will stay high as long as the input pulse is maintained; when not in the Sustained mode, or when the input pulse terminates, the output ramps down to 0V at a rate determined by the sum of the decay voltage and the setting of the decay knob.

At the end of the Decay segment, a transient pulse appears at the pulse output. If the 281 is in Cyclic mode, the cycle now repeats.

The time range for both Attack and Decay is from .001 to 10 seconds.

In the Quadrature mode, generators A and B (or C and D) operate in tandem with their functions shifted by ninety degrees in relation to each other. An OR function can be invoked to generate more complex envelopes (ADSR).

292 Classic Reissue – Quad Lopass Gate $999.00

The Buchla Classic Reissue of the Quad Lopass Gate Model 292 rev C includes four independent voltage-controlled amplifiers. Each has a signal input and output, a control voltage input that varies the unit’s gain and an offset adjustment. A switch selects one of three operating modes: straight gate (VCA), lowpass filter (VCF), or a combination of the two, in which the spectral response varies as the gain is changed.

266 Classic Reissue – Source of Uncertainty $999.00

The Buchla Classic Reissue of the Source of Uncertainty Model 266 provides a general source of musical unpredictability. Operation is divided into several sections, each of which perform a unique function.

Three type of noise are available, with corresponding dedicated outputs. White noise is electrically flat, but acoustically balanced toward the high end of the spectrum ( 3 db/octave). Integrated white noise has a low spectral bias (-3 db/octave). Musically flat noise has a flat spectrum (constant energy per octave) and is a particularly useful source for subsequent processing.

Fluctuating Random Voltages are continuously variable, with voltage control of bandwidth over the range of .05Hz to 50Hz, making possible changes that vary from barely perceptible movement to rapid fluctuation.

Quantized Random Voltages change upon receiving pulses. The number of states is voltage-controllable.

The 266 also includes a Stored Random Voltages section, a voltage controlled Integrator and a Sample and Hold.

257 Classic Reissue – Dual Control Voltage Processor (two knob choices) $799.00

The Buchla Classic Reissue of the Dual Control Voltage Processor Model 257 includes two identical sections. Each allows several applied control voltages to generate a single output voltage. CV Processing includes addition, subtraction, inversion, scaling, and multiplication as well as voltage controlled transfer between two CV inputs.

230 Classic Reissue – Triple Envelope Follower $899.00

The Buchla Classic Reissue of the Triple Envelope Follower Model 230 produces three sets of control voltages and pulses relative to amplitude of the signal inputs. Sensitivity and decay time can be adjusted per channel.

207 Classic Reissue – Mixer/Preamplifier $999.00

"The Buchla Classic Reissue of the Mixer/Preamplifier Model 207 includes a six channel stereo mixer with voltage-controlled panning and a single channel preamplifier with impedance and gain switches for a variety of input levels. Also included are per channel program and monitor switches and a monitor output."
