"This thing is a beast! The source of Van Halen's Jump and so many of Prince's big records.

1981 Oberheim OB-Xa (8 voice/120 programs) with MIDI

Was restored in 2015 by Analog Lab, New York City.

Specifically:

1. Kenton MIDI Kit with in/out/thru and CC
2. New keyboard bushings installed; keyboard leveled--plays like new!
3. Complete servicing of power supply--like new!
4. Replaced capacitors and ribbon cables between boards
5. LED's replaced (a few were burned out when I bought it)

The MIDI kit alone, with labor, is a 1500 dollar upgrade. All in all, more than 2500 dollars of restoration was put into this synth!

Operationally, this synth is great. All keys, knobs, switches, and so on work!

Cosmetically, it originally had a few dings that have been re-painted. There is some minor "case rash" on the rear of the synth from a previous owner that probably kept it cased for 10-15 years, but it is barely visible when you look at the rear (see pictures). If I was being picky, I would rate the cosmetics of this Xa as a 7/10, all things considered. That being said, to see these trivial defects you have to look really closely, like putting your eyeball 6" away from the face panel."
