These are truly unique sounding - VCO's give it classic analog warmth but the filter is brash and metallic sounding (with resonance that can kill small animals.) - It has a very Juno 106ish chorus (minus the surf sound feature) and some useful tricks like an arp and mono/osc stack mode. Also in the strange and wonderful category is the ability to process select Akai samplers through these juicy filters with some potentially unobtainable multipin cable (that function I can not verify.)
The good: Everything works. It stays in tune and sounds delicious. MIDI and all functions tested and performing as advertised. All keys trigger and the buttons don't require any additional mashing.
The bad: It has one replacement fader that doesn't quite match the others and one of the display overlays (for waveform selection) is indented (probably a 5 minute fix for somebody brave enough to wrench on it, but that's not me.)
The ugly: Surface scratches but overall decent cosmetics - keys aren't yellow and all the lights light up. Somebody (for an unknown reason) stuck a sweet vintage "Boss Sound Innovator" sticker on it. It's period correct so I left it."
